took a touch over 3 weeks, now to get a bound book! anyone recomend one over another?

for those considering it, its a very painless and simple process, that i really can't see a downside to, going to order a m59 sks soon to celebrate:neener:

I plan on using a plain old marble notebook. Cheap but bound. I probably won't be getting a vast collection so this will probably suffice. Do they sell bound books for C&R premade? If so, have you priced them out?

yea they sell premade ones, cruffler.com recomends one thats about 25 dollars, which is just a bit too rich for my blood, i hear either midway or brownells has a lower priced version, if i find the link i'll post it

Bound books. umbered pages, Plain ruled. Hard back $14.95, Weather resistant, $17.95. pluss shipping I'm sure.
Note that these are blank pages, not headered...

(thank you dogpile!)

I think I'll stick with the marble notebook. I'm a low tech kinda guy. Thanks for the link though. BTW, I think that borders, walden books, etc. sell those things. Possibly cheaper.

I bought my book from Brownells. If I remember right the shipping was more than the book itself. Now go out and start spending!!

Hey Eastwood, While your waiting compile a list of milsurp dealers etc. Many accept faxes of your C&R others want a hard copy. That way you can send it out the second you get it. Happy hunting!

I made my own. Plastic archive sleeves in a 3-ring binder, printed out forms in the sleeves. Works great and I can keep re-printing the pages so they're nice and neat (and nobody has to try to read my chicken-scratch).

Welcome....

to the poor house.......Remember, each month you have to give a blood oath to Saint Visa to ensure your credit card does not max out. The worst that can happen is if SWMBO goes shopping and your credit card is maxed out and she cannot buy anything.......chris3

When you get your bound book do you have to log the firearms that you already own? Or do you just have to log purchases/sales of guns bought after you get the C&R?

You do not have to log in guns that you already own, although it is ok if you want to.

You DO have to log in ALL C&R guns you obtain/sell while you have the license, even if you do not use the license to acquire them.

The bound book you print yourself is the best one. With the savings, you're half way to a Century gunsmith special M44. :)

I print my own pages and bind them myself. It looks better than drawing lines in a notebook, imo.

Please feel free to use mine!

I know they never actually check these but I thought the bound book had to be "bound". So that pages could not be added or removed. Any official word on this? Then again I believe you can do it on your computer as well which kinda blows that theory out of the water. Maybe the name is just an old holdover.

I'ver never seen this in writing, but I've "heard" that ATF does not care if C&R books are "bound", but do care for dealer books.

An orderly collection of loose leaf pages is perfectly acceptable. Right off the ATF FAQ....

Congrats tricky! I'm about 10 days into my C&R app process. I HOPE it turns around as quick as yours did. To all others: Thanks for the tips!
