A couple of weeks ago I asked a poll as to which would be the best .22 for me for Bullseye. And there was broad consensus that the 5 1/2" Smith and Wesson Model 41 would be the ticket.

As I finished my Doctorate in Immunology on last Friday and will be picking up the Sheepskin this Saturday, I bought myself a little present.

Thanks for the great suggestion. It seems like a winner.

have a great day,
Dr. cavman Ph.D.

ps: as a bonus, being from Maine, I see that it is made in Houlton, Maine. Even better!

10-Ring "Nothing like those Gifts for self! Congrats on both counts...the degree & the pistol"

My thoughts exactly.
I've had a model 41 for a long time. Still one of my favorites:D

Expensive toy, but an excellent target grade pistol. ;) I have a friend that's into Bullseye and shoots one.

And, congrats on the sheepskin! My daughter will be getting her BA at the end of this fall. Her getting a job and moving out of my house will almost seem like my own graduation. LOL! She was talking grad school the other day. I let her know there'd have to be a loan involved!:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

McGunner,

Have her talk about going all the way and aspire for the top, the Ph.D. , and she wouldn't need any loans! Doctoral candidates receive a stipend in addition to tuition paid. Not much but enough to cover all expenses. It's clearly the hardest thing that I have ever done, but if she wants it it can be done.

have a great day

Congrats on the new gun, and the degree!!

I bought the same gun 3 months ago, and have already run 2500 rounds through mine.

Fun shooter...

Congrats on the Ph.D. and on the gun acquisition! Immunology? I guess there's no accounting for taste! :neener: Definitely one of my least favorite subjects. But quite an accomplishment just the same. :D

I'm still trying to get my wife to allow me to get another "gift for self" after my first one (my CZ 75 BD). That takes some doing, especially on our budget. :(

As far as whoever had the daughter wanting to go to graduate school, as someone mentioned, you can get graduate assistantships pretty easily that will pay for your tuition, sometimes books, and give you a regular stipend. Just be thankful she's not opting for medical school (hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debts to pay back :what: ).

Whatta ya mean?

B Cells, T Cells, Macrophages and Dendritics! Anti-bacterial, anti-parasitic, anti-viral defenses. Auto immune diseases, Lupus, MS, Leukemias, Lymphomas, and Myelomas.Allergies to pollen, cats and bees. Asthma, and arthritis!! The Boy in the Bubble. All immunology!

Great stuff.

ps took it out last night and did I feel like a genious for buying it ( with of course all credit to all that told me here on the THR that the Model 41 was the one to aquire). That thing is sweet. Thanks again for the recommendation.

Glad somebody out there likes doing that stuff! ;) We sure need it.
