Bicycle Gun

step-through frames are too noodly if you wanna put some power to the pedals. For a while, there was a 'mixte' frame which involved two smaller top-tubes running downward from the head tube downward back toward the rear hub and straddling the seat tube. It worked pretty well, but the diamond frame won out in popularity. I've put t'ousands of miles on diamond frames and have never had a problem with 'em (and I've crashed a few times, too).
Currently, I carry this with me, in the back of the van, as I'm away from home 3 weeks out of the month, and don't have the capacity to carry my regular bikes.
(hint: it folds in half)

I ride daily as a pro road cyclist with a keltec P3At in the pocket of my jersey next to my powerbars. I've done so for years now. After my ride today I was nearing my house when a swarm of police cars almost ran me over chasing some guy in a tuner car. They cornered him right in front of me in a carwash and I turned and saw the driver wave a gun out the window. I dodged about 3 cruisers and then got the hell out of there. I heard pop pop pop as I sprinted home. I didn't think about anything but getting out of there. I'll check the news tonight to see if they cover any of it.

Where's the XD?!?

I didn't have it yet when I took the pic, but I'll probably have it in my Camelbak waist pack, until I figure out a better way.
Georges, I used to bomb around downtown Little Rock (rode with Carve there, and the RBM guys in Dallas, though I've never raced, I usually rode with the Cat3 guys). Most of the trouble I've had came from rent-a-cops and some of the city guys giving me hell about not having my headlight on.
Glad you got away from that mess.

welcome to thr ST Georges

where do you ride? I found even very light suff on my back hurts while riding but
had great success with messenger bags

Regarding this photo...

...ya'll know, the U.S. Army used to field Mounted Infantry (mounted on horses, as in Col. Wilder's case during the War of Northern Aggression). Over time, Infantry has gotten a ride in several ways whether by truck, aircraft, Bradley Fighting Vehicle, etc. In this case, they're a PI (Parachute Infantry) outfit and riding bicycles ain't so far fetched depending on the situation. Of course, there's already been a post concerning bicycling soldiers during WW2.

Gunsmith, have you thought about trying a cargo rack? Keeps stuff off of your body, lower center of gravity, and stay cooler while riding. All you have to do is tuck in the straps on your bag and bungee it down.

Don't shun the basket, either! I can hold about ten pounds in mine before it starts messing too much with ballance. I also rig sadle bags over the front hump of the frame, out of the way of my knees.
