That reminds me of one of those "criminals caught on tape" type shows I saw a few years back. This guy tried to rob a fast-food joint (with a golf club, IIRC). There were two employees, a man and a woman. The man brained the would-be robber with a chair or something. Then, the woman picked up a deep fryer full of sizzling oil...and dumped it on the guy! The guy was yelping like a kicked dog.

I couldn't believe my eyes

In a similar instance from the UK, a crook with a large kitchen knife tried to rob a family-owned convenience store.

The robber was too busy threatening the cashier to realise that he was being filmed on CCTV, or that the rest of the family were watching it. He didn't even notice when several of them sneaked up behind him, all armed with hockey sticks... (Well, he noticed eventually  )

Note I just sent to the Brady campaign:
Hello

I saw the article linked below, and wondered if your organization had a position on other dangerous weapons besides handguns.

Link: http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/15055113.htm

In the article an armed robber is assaulted with a jar of applesauce by patrons of the store he's robbing.

Obviously, something must be done. Obviously taking away guns from law-abiding citizens wasn't enough. We can't have private citizens beating crimianls with jars of fruit. Perhaps the Brady Campaign should lobby for laws requiring applesauce to be sold in soft plastic bags.

It is nice to see however, that criminals obey laws about not having guns even though they ignore laws against robbery... oh wait, the robber had a gun, didn't he? Oh well.

In any case, I think if your organization was to direct it's efforts towards de-weaponized food products the US would be a much better, and safer, place.

Sincerely,

Several minutes later, the girls peeked out the kitchen door and saw police. The shooter was being taken out the door on a stretcher.

So the police didn't clear the rest of the building? I'm assuming that if they had, the girls would not have had to peek out of the kitched to discover that the ordeal was over. Just a thought.

Does anyone know if the Applesauce weilding attackers were held pending futher investigation and referral to the Prosecuting Attorney for possible charges??

Maybe I'm just bitter!!

cater to the criminal

note that the gunmans identity was protected.....but the victims who protected themselves are named and thus exposed to retribution by relatives or homies.

note that the ambulance and hospital are all provided free of charge ... oh...that is to say, you and I and the victims get to pay the bill as the cost of uninsured care is passed on in our insurance premiums and taxes.

I'm sure when the store owner goes home and has a coronary as a result of the trama, he'll get to pay full price and go bankrupt.

Not to mention the perps. all expenses paid jail-house education and access to the legal system, so he can sue for damages.

Oh, what a messed up society we live in!
