Proper range attire?

Again, the idea is the image everyone projects to non and new shooters. Your image says, "hey this is fun", and you look non-threatening. But I think the gist of the thread is, "lets avoid paramilitary dress because it creates negative attention".

*nods* Exactly.

I never go to the range proper. I always sit up on the hill behind the range hiding in the woods while wearing my bush gear. When laying still I look like a well planted patch of sun flowers. I find the person who seems to be shooting the worst and catching flak from cammoed up Wal-Mart employees. Then I zero in on his target with my silenced barett .50 cal. and shoot out some ten rings for him. I get warm and fuzzy inside helping those in need.

I wear to the range whatever I have on that day. I usually wear sandals. Brass hasn't ever been a problem, but those fire ants.... I haven't seen too many "dressed up" people at our club, but I don't really pay attention.

If I had a stormtrooper outfit, I'd wear that to the range as well.

It would be a lot of fun to get a bunch of guys with Imperial Stormtrooper armor together and sign up for a basic submachinegun class somewhere.

I like to wear my Mall Ninja outfit - I just want to fit in and be popular. My wife usually wears a halter top, low rider jeans and a thong.:what:

I'm Mr. Casual, unless I stop by on the way home from hunting. Summer attire is tee shirt, shorts and boat shoes or sneakers.

The one thing I NEVER wear to the range is anything that looks like a bullseye or target. No circles, no pics of little animals, etc. I don't believe in tempting fate.

... happen to be decked out in full ensemble of military cammo ... almost to the point of a helo extraction waiting to happen. Are they sending the wrong message, or am I living in a box with my views?
They are sending the message they want to send. Some are developing a whole new meaning for the term: head space. Some want to be seen as gung-ho. Some like the free/relaxed fit of some of the clothing (a la hospital "greens" that docs wear). Some just don't get it, like you. Like me. But, to each his own. So long as such folks aren't doing this on the street, to play G.I. Joe, it's no worse than twelve nose/lip/tongue rings in terms of "style".

Not me. I just went to the range this weekend with the "AK." I was the guy with glasses and a goatee, wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and sandals, as I recall.

GI steel pot
German ant tanker gas mask
Five grenades straped to a Vietnam era vest

$200

HRT combat boots
Black 511 pants
Guns on thigh holster and boot knife

$500

Going to the range like that. Priceless

Unless the guy you came along is crawling on the ground with a Ghilie suit.

The new mastercard commercial for the gun owner.

When you work at a range...

Anything for the big shooter shows, It's like a walking display.

plus around Halloween we all still can be kids
