Which Glock would YOU choose?

Llets say you were going to be a LEO or going into some other profession that requires open carry of a handgun. Like a number of Departments, your department requires you to carry a Glock, but it can be ANY Glock. Any calibur, any model. I am interested in seeing which one people would want to entrust their life to if they were given that option. Keep in mind concealability is not a factor because you are carrying it on your hip. Don't worry about off duty use, you have lots of guns. Price isn't a factor, they're issuing it to you. And lets ignore ammo price as well, but if that would sway you, tell me what youd pick otherwise

Oh, and don't say, "the one you fire the best". I'm asking YOU.

I'd have to go with a G22. I've gotten where I prefer larger bores, and the 45 ACP Glocks are too big for my hands. I'm not sure what to think of the 45 GAP round either. So, by process of elimination I'll take the full size 40 S&W G22.

Unless the department is picking up my ammo tab, G34 or G35.

Edited, as "The Good" is making up rules as he goes along!

G20.

Probably a G19 or G23. I find this is the only size Glock that I find comfortable. It's also the only Glock I've put thousands of round through and feel somewhat proficient with (G19, less so with the G23).

The G19 would be my choice if I had to make an immediate choice; I feel completely comfortable with 16 rounds of 127gr +P+ Rangers.

I've owned several Glock models and have come to the opinion that the 9 mm Glocks are the best one in the entire inventory.
That said, for LE use, I'd prefer something in a more substantial caliber...preferably in 45 acp. So, even tho I've already blown up a 21, I guess to answer this question, I'd go w/ a 21 :D

We carry the G22 where I work, good gun but the 40 recoil is snappy...I prefer the G21. The 45 acp actually recoils slower even with +p stuff.

Why, the only Glock I've ever found a use for...

I can use it to free stuck vehicles, dig an impromtu foxhole, even throw it Spetznaz-style at an attacker if I have to. It's a very versatile tool. Now as for a sidearm, I'd probably want a real gun. :neener:

I would choose the Glock 23. 40 S&W, small enough to carry concealed but large enough for duty use, 13 rounds in mag with 1 in chamber for 14 total. I would have to change out the stock plastic sights if thats what it came with.

plain closed concealed carry g23

open carry, either g17 or g22 depending on what caliber you want. I would take the .40 cal all day long though.

Like others have said the .45acp glocks are to big for my hands, plus i love the .40, and i don't think you can possibly go wrong with it.

GLOCK 31 (.357SIG fullsize), as police need to be able to punch through basic body armor, but still not have the recoil make a follow-up shot hard. That's why I would prefer .357SIG over 10mm (though I'd take a 10mm SMG over a 9mm SMG if I was an LEO any day). I would convert it to select-fire using an FSS-G.

I would also pack a GLOCK 36 (.45ACP slimline) in a cargo pocket for last-ditch personal defense.

Uniform service use? Glock?

G17

Yes, I know the trend toward .40 S&W is occurring ... (I carry an issued pistol chambered in .40 S&W myself, just not a Glock).

Yes, I also like larger calibers, all else being equal ... but all else isn't always 'equal', in my humble opinion (I've been issued pistols chambered in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP, and I can presently choose between either .40 S&W or .45 ACP models.)

You asked my opinion regarding what GLOCK I'd ask for if it was going to be issued and carried by me for uniform service, and I answered that specific question.

Another vote for the G31. I have also owned several Glocks and shot several more but the G31 is the best, hands down... 15r00vq.gif
