Looking for .30 110gr FMJ carbine bullets

I'm looking for .30 110gr carbine bullets. Does anyone have a line on any in quan. of 1K or more. Found a few but in boxes of 100 for around $12 ea. I am using them as a plinking round, nothing fancy. Will plated bullets work? Found some for half the price but I thought that might strip off plating with full loads.

I have done a lot of plinking with my military carbine and I have been using 115 gr "Laser Cast" bullets mfgr. by Oregon Trail very successfully with W-W 296 powder. "Laser Cast" bullets are the hardest cast bullets I have ever used and have had very little to no barrel leadingi occurring. What leading I had cleaned up easily and that included the gas piston assembly. Price was around 22.00 to 23.00/500 and are available direct or thru MidwayUSA.

Check out places that have pulled mil-spec m1 carbine bullets. gibrass.com, hi-tech ammo, pats reloading, and probably other places. I've seen pricing in the $45/K range for bullets.

pulled bullets?

I found these prices on pulled bullets too. I was not sure how they would work....good price though. Leads me to wonder why they got pulled.

I haven't tried lead thru this barrel but it sure get fouled with copper using Georgia Arms "canned heat"

I do a lot of loading in .30 carbine. Typically I order Winchester 110gr FMJ sometimes called Metal Case (MC). I usually order from dillon or midway.

I have also used plated bullets with great success.

I found these prices on pulled bullets too. I was not sure how they would work....good price though. Leads me to wonder why they got pulled.

They are pulled because the US military surplussed the ammo. Per a clinton directive, surplus military ammo cannot be sold to civilians (since about 2000 IIRC). So companies buy the surplus ammo, pull the bullets, save the powder, and make the primers inert. Then they sell the pulled bullets, salvaged (pulldown) powder, and never-fired cases. For many years, it worked well to just sell the surplus ammo, but no longer. (insert political rant here...)

I've read various comments on other sites that using plated bullets in a .30 carbine leaves plating in the barrel, and accuracy suffers greatly after just a few shots.

Haven't used them myself, but don't plan to.

"...plated bullets..." Treat 'em like cast bullets. Keep the velocities down.

Midway and Graf's both sell Remington and Winchester bullets in bulk, including those for .30 Carbine.

So far the best price for FMJ is $45/1000 + shipping, these are pulled

The best price for lead is KEAD $30/1000 + shipping.

I use a lot of the KEADS in my 40s&W (it is the most accurate bullet I have found for my CZ75B, super hard & no leading). I'm just not sure if I would get the same results (no leading) in this particular gun. It sure gets fouled with copper easly enought.

I will probibly order some of both and see what happens. Now I just need some dies and a convertion kit from Dillon.
