I just bought my first Glock yesterday. I had a chance to sample a G27 a while back, and ever since then I knew I would own one of the sub-compact models. So yesterday, I went to ye local gun shoppe, and a NIB Glock 33 ended up following me home. Pics coming soon.
I bought a couple boxes of Winchester JHP's to cycle through it, and this thing runs flawlessly, as expected... It's also the proverbial "tiger by the tail," in terms of recoil. .357SIG out of this thing is harder on my hands than .357Mag in a J-frame airweight. I'm pretty sure it's due to the tiny grip and where it sits in the heel of my hand. I can simply get a better grip on a J-frame. Tonight is the first time that my hand and wrist has ever been sore from shooting. Now I have big hands - but with the magazine extensions it works for what it's supposed to do.
Overall, I'm impressed. It turns out I like a consistent trigger pull better than DA/SA, although I don't think I'll ever be crazy about Glock triggers. The winning facor for me is how easy it is to carry compared to a full sized gun. Compared to a P220 it's like carrying an I-pod. At the moment, all I have is an el-cheapo OWB holster that came with it, which works surpisingly well... but I'd like to get a nicer setup going soon. Which leads me to my question:
-
How do you guys carry your Glocks? Leather? Kydex? Other? Brands?
Pics would be great if you have them. It took me an hour to get called to the counter (the store was a madhouse), and another hour to find my gun... by time I finished the paperwork and walked out, the last thing on my mind was spending another hour there to find a good setup.
Also, I've sampled a lot of Glocks before buying this one, but I don't know much about them mechanically. I've heard I can convert this to a .40S&W with just a barrel swap. Is this true? Anything else I should know about my new Glock? Thanks in advance!
