I won't be. Not at all.

2008 will be the first year that I will be able to vote. I hope it can be for Ron Paul.

Would make my day, but look for a GOP/DNC combined smear campaign

Actually a smear campaign would be a good sign, it would show he was gaining enough traction to represent a serious threat. Also this time around, there is the Internet. Whatever else you can say about Buchanan's run, he didn't have the same opportunity to circumvent the major media that Ron Paul will have.

He has my vote-I was really starting to worry that I wouldn't be able to vote all.

How about some Libertarian House and Senate Candidates running as Republicans so Ron Paul could maybe have some like minded members if he is elected.

If the badmouthing by the MSM and political talking heads gets loud about Ron Paul they may just loose a few teeth.

I've been wanting this for a while.

Let's hope he does it.

After you're all done fellating Ron Paul, I'd like to point out a few things.

-He's a complete unknown on the latter day political scene. In fact, he's
worse than unknown, he's a kooky old man from a "good old boy" state

-He's far, far too "extreme" on pretty much any issue that gets talked about,
and he has a background that is very easily taken out of context and made to
look bad. After all, he was a "Womens Health" doctor, and either side can
spin that just about as negatively as they want to.

-He's from Texas. Texas is where Bush is from. The American people, for
better or worse, will not elect another president from Texas in the forseeable
future. It's dumb, but there it is.

-And don't forget, he has NO MONEY, and NO FRIENDS, and therefore NO SUPPORT.
Politics is an ugly game, and Ron Paul plays it straight, and will therefore lose.

...As much as I'd like to see a Ron Paul presidency, It's not gonna happen.

One thing he may have going for him is the internet, look at how blogs and other grassroots efforts have affected the election at other times.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda

Has the potential to stop a person or any other autonomous being in its tracks. That sort of hesitation clouds up a persons thought processes. If you think that Ron Paul is even 0.001% better than the next guy - vote for him! Come on, we're talking 'the lesser of two evils' here! Do it for the children!

I'll certainly give him credit for both being principled enough to be a libertarian, and smart enough to run for pres as a republican.

It's way early in the season, certainly too early to say he has no chance. If he even made it as a running mate I would be happy.

Paul does an outstanding job analyzing a situation.

He does not do a good job with solutions.

I see no evidence he understands the need for compromise to effect change.

In summary, he strikes me as an ideologue.

Tom Coburn, Senator (and physician) from Oklahoma has the same bona fides as Ron Paul WRT to libertarian proclivities while sporting a practical streak.

If Ron Paul could use the bully pulpit to popularize his ideas like another Ron was known to do, it won't matter what the House and Senate want. The people will call them and demand they support him.

He is the opposite of an ideologue. He bases his understanding of government and the law on history, observed reality, and a firm grasp of human nature. An ideologue, on the other hand, adopts his pet ideas first (because they sound good), then seeks to force reality to fit into them. I hope you can see the difference. Carl Marx was the consummate ideologue. The Founders were realists, i.e., the opposite of ideologues, because they based their views on history, observed reality, and a firm grasp of human nature.

I voted for him the last time he ran for Prez, but he didn't get the office. What can I do differently this time, that will get him in?

The establishment of neither party will not allow someone like Ron Paul to upset the status quo.

He will be discredited in the primaries like Buchanan was. If that doesn't work, he will follow in the footsteps of Bobby Kennedy and George Wallace.

The establishment of both parties have been doing their best, election after election, to defeat him, and he's managed to hang on. I, for one, am looking forward to actually being able to vote for somebody, instead of against the other guy.

It will be nice to not have to hold my nose when voting in the next election. Here is a Republican candidate I can vote for.
