I am also looking for a small cannon. Just more in this style:

This Three Inch Hotchkiss Mountain Gun would be a perfect lawn ornament.

Just think of the Fourth of July!

Ski resorts use a lot of 75 MM pack Howitzers....

to trigger avalanches. I've always wanted to have one of those little suckers. Look pretty interesting being towed behind a Civic.

Check out Omega Weapons Systems. He has a cannon for sale there. It looks real nice in the pics.

Sparky

Also on the "OLD" gunsamerica.com they'd have them listed on there.

I haven't tried getting on there in couple of weeks, anyone know if they fixed the "improvements" they made ???

Umm... DR Dickie... when you were a kid, (unless you are under 20 years old) there WAS no CMP... it was known as the DCM or "Department of Civilian Marksmanship"... :neener:

And Colt 46... you're half right... they USED to use pack howitzers... but the feds cracked down (since most western ski areas are on federal land) and they now use nitrogen powered launchers... (think REALLY big paintball gun.)

a good family friend is a head of lift maintainence at Breckenridge in CO, and has shown me the "Av guns"...

Yeah, I was going to say it was called the DCM, but I figured, why interject truth it what was fantasy!:neener:

And the antis are worried about civilians owning 50cals? :what: If you're going to go Howitzer, get a self-propelled. It'll save the set-up time.

Bwana , you need the old rotating cannon ,either the 1 pounder [37mm] or the larger 57mm. No sense in having just one barrel !!

There is no call for civilians to have small howitzers.

Large ones however....
'Go big or go home' - get a MLRS, 200$ tax stamp for a rocket wouldn't be that bad.

Id rather have a direct fire weapon like a 37mm or 57mm.
In my hometown (where I was born) one guy has a 88mm flak cannon on the roof. Wonder what are his worries. If I find a pic I will post it.

Another has a Bofors 40 set up in the garden, as a part of exhibition, but still:

If anything else, I'll put it up

ADDED: Found the picture of that 88mm

Yeah, the crows. And those pesky seagulls, reconing the area to mark the targets for bomb carpets. Err, crap-carpets.

I've been approaching this very slowly, partly because I don't want to "to waste [dealers'] time with tire kickers and the broke curious." I know it will be very expensive (relative to my current income), but a man has to have goals, right? :D

Well if they've been "encouraged" to get rid of 'em, where'd they go? who got them? how much?

:)
Seriously though, its gotta be small enough to tow with an SUV.

I may be optimistic, but I'm not rich.

Tell me more! Options? Prices?
Money and true desire is all that is needed.
BINGO!

Check these sites, www.subguns.com and www.sturmgewehr.com.
There are a couple listed now.

Also check ads in Small Arms Review and Shotgun News.

There will be a lot of Federal paperwork.

I don't have a cannon of any kind but a friend has a self-built blackpowder job which is a lot of fun.
I saw a bunch of artillery at the Knob Creek shoot the only time I got there.

Oh, wow. Yeeee Haw!

From a long and rich history of engines of destruction comes the newest breed of medium force weapons -- the 155mm Ultralightweight Howitzer -- so light that it floats like a butterfly, and so powerful it stings like a train wreck.

Now, THERE'S a serious simile.

(Though I'd pay money to see one float like a butterfly.)
