Civilians Shouldn't Own Military-Style Firearms

The Soviets - Joe Stallin also had the same dreams and aspirations. Just that he needed bailed out by the USA because he did not have the resources on hand to take on the Germans single handed. Joe even went so far as to kill several Million of his own people - including 2/3 of his top officers durning his period of purges

To start out positive this part of history is mostly correct. I think Stalin purged more than 2/3 of his top officers but don't have the exact figure at hand.

The reason the Japanese surrendered was not because of the Nuclear Bomb. It was because the Russians got into the war and they were more afraid of the Soviets than they ever were the US.

The Russians got into the war against Japan to grab land. Japan started losing the war after the Battle of the Coral Sea (it was basically a draw) and never won any battle of consequence after Midway. Japan would be able to carry on their war for only 6-12 more months due to the effectiveness of the blockade around Japan in July 1945. Several hundred thopusand died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Estimates show if the Allies invaded Japan they would have suffered a millin casualities and the Japanese 7-8 million.

I have sat and counseled many Vietnam Era Vets that do not have one dam good thing to say about the Vietnam Conflict and do not even want to remember what happened over there. Why don't you people put it to bed already and quit talking about what if's and if I could's!

As a Vietnam Vet I take exception to the Vietnam Vets who have made a career of being Vietnam Vets. I'm not talking about the guy who has a bumper sticker on his truck or wears a Viet Vet baseball cap. I'm talking about the guys who walk around all the time in jungle fatiques and bitch about how they were screwed. To use your own words why don't they put it to bed already.

We live in the free'est country in the world. Our country spends trillion of dollors a year to protect us against foreign invaders. You do not need to keep a couple of machine guns around the house in order to protect yourself and a AR 15 is not a good coyote gun. Nor was it made for accuracy.

I agree you don't need to have a couple of machineguns around the house to defend yourself but you know what? You can. Why? Because we live in the most free country in the world. My argument is you have to be rich or pool many of your assets into owning an automatic weapon. I also believe in some regulation of firearms although I believe there are already too many gun laws.

I guess believing in some regulation of firearms takes me out of the redneck gun owner class.

The 2A has nothing to do with hunting or the militia. The militia and security of the state are separated by commas (totally separate thoughts check any grammar guide) from the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

Virtually any out of the box AR is more accurate than my 30-30.

These guns belong in the hands of civilians before they belong in the hands of the military. Civilians have less history of misuse of weapons than militaries in general do. I trust my neighbor a lot more than I trust someone who has had obedience to orders drilled into his head since the age of 18.

I've seen it first hand. have you????

I 'm an Infantryman ready to retire and I'd been to alot of countries wish they had our law to defend themselves, but alas they don't and their bodies are fotter for those whom do. I personally don't own any assault rifle myself. My dream gun will be a M1 Garand. Guns are tools and you need different tools for each job. I may disagree with what some people own or say, but I fought for their right to own and carry what they wish.
For this, "YOU ARE WELCOME":)

Governments (i.e., people who drill orders into kids' heads) killed over 200 million people in the 20th century. That's not counting the wars.

Even your flakiest neighbor is safer with an assault rifle than the kind of people who pursue power their whole lives.

You are entitled to your opinion and can express it freely. That's the purpose of the first amendment.

I own several firearms, at least two of which you apparently disapprove of. That's the purpose of the second amendment.

If someone came after me today I'd reach for my shotgun. If I was told I had to go live in the Middle of Nowhere and possibly defend myself I'd take my revolver in .357 and lever-action rifle also in .357 for general versatility.

Do I have any expection that my AR-15 will ever be used outside of a firing range? Nope. But I had fun building it up from a bare reciever and I enjoy shooting it.

Do I have any similar expectations for my cheapo Romanian AK knockoff? No. Hell, I rarely take it out of the safe. I bought it primarily to annoy people like you. ;)

There is a solution to your objections though. All you have to do is move to a state that prohibits the ownership of Those Evil Weapons you dislike so. California or New York should work nicely for you.

You'd be surprised, I've noticed since I became active in Maryland gun rights politics there are plenty of folks who believe that owning bolt action rifles and breech loading shotguns is fine out on the farm, but don't like CCW rights, semiauto rights, or handgun rights any more than the Brady's do.

Funny, really--the hook and bullet crowd is really only recently realizing that after the Bradyites are finished taking away my semiauto pistol and my Mossberg 590, they're coming for their grandpappy's muzzleloader next.

In any event, as trollish as this thread might seem, I guess it's no worse than me and a bunch of my web buddies going over to the Brady site and raining on their parade, as we did recently.

Thank-you X

Lest I be accused of a personal attack, I will merely respond to "X", "X" being anyone anti-machine gun.

X, are you also a vegan? A communist or just anti-Constitution? I appreciate you opinion more than you can imagine!!! Mainly, because it makes me appreciate being me, and having a level-headed view of firearms ownership and the 2nd amendment.

If you don’t want a Bushmaster, an AK, a Springfield M1A or any other similar "military-type arm" don't buy it! But, neither you nor the government has any right to deny anyone else that right if they so choose to purchase.

Check your history...before the 1920s, the people had all the same weapons as the military if they so chose. In fact, people used to buy machine guns through the Sears catalog!!! Drop-shipped to their front door with NO signature.

Do I want a machine gun? Sure! Can I afford the ammo? Nope. If I win the lottery, I'll buy a 1,000 machine guns. All in direct celebration of this thread.

And don't even get me started about the "protection" we enjoy! Have you checked the border lately?!

My AR-15 is the most accurate rifle I own, and .223 is an extremely popular coyote hunting caliber.:uhoh:

Military Weapons

Civilians shouldn't own/possess/carry military weapons???

What do they think that bolt-action .30 caliber rifle is? In 1918, the '98 Mauser and the '03 Springfield were "Assault Weapons" of the first order.
In 1873, so was the Trapdoor Springfield. All rifles are assault weapons, by design and intent. A rifle is what one normally uses to carry the fight to an antagonist...to attack him with.

And, for the record...Police officers are civilians, too.

Silliness.

When people bring up the argument against assault rifles or machine guns I can never really understand why they feel that anyone (short of convicted felons and people with a history of mental illness) should not be allowed to own whatever they want. Bolt action .22LR or belt fed .308... I really don't care.

In my mind I always thought cars and truck were much more dangerous than an assault rifle. You could do much more damage with your SUV than I could do with my M1A.

A certified, genuine anti-guns TROLL.

Always they start off with the typical "I own a gun for huntin', but...." Then they proceed to disparage all other gun owners and demand confiscation of almost all firearms except ....

Our "Gran'pap's ol' twelve bore," or, "Great Uncle Ned's ol' thutty thutty." Possession of said firearms strictly regulated, however, by Big Brother & Big Nanny.

Note Mr. Rifleman's convoluted sentence construction, poor grammar, misspellings, and non-logic, which advertise his gross ignorance of history and Human Nature. Very indicative of his juvenile mindset.

Counseling of combat Vets????? Anyone believe that?? I don't.

Oh well, just another TROLL from Democrat Underground. They're found on every firearms/hunting site on the Internet.

That's the nature of the beast, so to speak.
