DUDE....

that is a great article... WOW... a little ranty and militant, but desperate times and all... great link thank you.

Wow what a well written and thought out column , see if only Zumbo had put this much thought into his last column . Thanks for the link !

Thanks for the link. Very good read. The author expressed some points much more articulately than I would be able. I am going to save that article for distribution.

This issue is so serious because it quite literally concerns life and death -- specifically, the lives and deaths of American citizens trying to protect their families and themselves from crime. Any attack on your firearms rights reduces or eliminates by force of law your right, your opportunity, and your ability to own and employ a firearm, the most useful tool for personal defense yet invented. Any statements that facilitate these attacks -- any lies, arguments, or quotes used by the firearms prohibitionists to attack your gun rights -- are therefore no less than an indirect attempt to decrease the value of your life. A man who presumes to tell you that you cannot own a firearm is not just pissing on the United States Constitution and the Second Amendment; he is presuming to tell you how much your life is worth. He is saying he sees no reason to make it easier for you to defend that life, or the lives of your family. He is declaring his supremacy over you by presuming to judge your life and its value. If there is a more tyrannical worldview, I don't know what it might be.

Amen.

Huh? Not at all! I do not see Phil's opinion piece as "ranty" or "militant" in the slightest ... Simply well-put ... and true. A concise, up-to-date assessment of the situation ...

Phil : I know i speak for a non vocal minority here and not well at that . Howeaver While i applaud the response of the bloggers , and boarders over the weekend resulting in sponsers pulling out from zumbo ect.. and i do recognise that that the damage from that blog post cannot be un done. IMHO there is a whole class of gun owners out there which some are to quick to dismiss as " fudds" a term i hold in the same reguard as the common racial or sexual epathiths of today. Rather than have a cute label and ridicule a portion of gun owners why dont we educate them . I live in SE colorado and have PD hunters come from as far as iowa to shoot on my ground . A couple of years ago a couple of die hard dog poppers showed up with thier custom turnbolts, another friend was down for the weekend and they shot his ar varment rig . Last year they both had ar 15s ( multiples packed away as backups and toys ) when they showed up to shoot . The kicker is the young one is 68 years old , and untill a couple of years ago only saw ar's on the news . They were as you put it FUDDS. Now either old man would do his best to whip your butt for calling him such . Not speaking to You as much as the folks who will read this post.. Zumbo truely screwed the pooch , and is paying for it , Just how much he pays remains to be seen , but him and all who feel like him can be on ourside if we educate them at the range , or in the field. They will not learn or support us if we ridicule and dismiss them with a insulting label . On this issue my friend i fear you and i may well have to agree to disagree.

Hammer... Nail... Head...

I think that's the best article I've read on the internet so far this year. Take a bow, you deserve it.

I know your reply was directed to Phil. I feel like replying, though. I think I understand your viewpoint. Do you understand the viewpoint of those calling for Mr. Jim Zumbo's head? If you do not, maybe it is because you do not understand how incredibly pissed off some people were before this? Then a supposed ally stabs them in the back: proverbial last straw. That rage is going to spill out somewhere. Now, I do not consider myself to be an angry man, but more practical and methodical. I personally want to see Mr. Jim Zumbo strung up for everyone to see as an example. I have no problem sacrificing him if it serves to make others stand up and take notice. This has been a long time coming. I entirely agree with reforming those we can. In this instance though, I believe the damage Mr. Zumbo did is serious enough and the message we can send by throwing this guy off a cliff warrants the punishment it seems he will receive.

Concerning the term "Fudd", I think that label is a non-issue, especially in comparison to the label "terrorist”.

Have a good night.

BSF i will answer back lol .

I guess i dont honestly understand what you and many if not most feel on this . As you struggle to be civil putting your " rage " into words I struggle with my confusion . I am not defending zumbo or his opinion , It just seems to me we as a group are missing the boat so to speak . No gun owner should consider any action more " evil " than any other . If any I meet do then i have failed all of us for not educating them . Zumbo can never take back what he posted , and anit's will use it for literaly decades . I dont know if he can somewhat counter act it by hunting with ted or whateaver . I do know i would rather have him retire from public life shooting an ar 15 than have him stay public and vocal detesting them . Everything about what he did imho is wrong , and imho sponsers are right on thier actions . I for one would take him out with my ar , and my fal and let him have a chance to learn. Lets take that same energy shown over the weekend and apply it to politics tho , not keep banging on zumbo for being an idiot . Zumbo is one idiot who had a position to be noticed , lets educate him and all the other silent ones out there . My turnbolts and goose guns dont know crap about the 2nd , nor does the 2nd care about them . Iirc it was miller which defined the ar 15 being closer to a protected arm than my citori lol .

You Fudds have a choice. You can understand that by furthering the cause of the gun-grabbers, you are cutting your own throats. You can make the connection between your precious hunting trips and the firearms you take on them. Or you can continue to shoot your deer and your bears and whatever else, all the while working to make certain that, eventually, you'll no more be able to gun down an elk than you'll be able to shoot the rapist who is coming for your wife.

Here, here.
