Howdy, Folks. As a Marine living in base housing, I'm not allowed weapons on base. I have a security system named Bonnie, a black lab, but what would you recomend in one of the above listed scenarios for a guy without a gun? Growing up in the country in ND, and my dad being an LEO, there were enough guns in the house for my brother, dad, and myself to have 2 firearms each, and my mother and 2 sisters 1 each. Granted HD was never that big of a concern but it was always reassuring that we could dispatch any possible threats quite easily. Now that I can't have something to protect my house, paper thin walls, and no possible area for a safe room, I feel a little naked. What do you say?

well, as a marine, chances are when SHTF/EOTWAWKI/Zombies your gunna be heavily armed, with many other heavily armed men, and some armor support. probibly FAR better off than any of us.

in a HD situation. id suggest a good flashlight ( Surefire) and maybe a blunt object ( bat, baton, pipe) . mace or taser couldnt hurt if your allowed to have them. but most of all a good way out of the house. though i cant imagine people breaking into houses on a marine corp base

Yes, when the Zombies come, I would suggest you make for the armory at full speed, and go shopping like a kid in a toy store with a stolen credit card...

On the other hand, I've played enough video games and seen enough movies to know that Zombie-Marines tend to be really tough, and very well armed. Maybe you shouldn't head for the armory... if only to make it easier for the rest of us to deal with your zombified self!

For home-defense, I would think home invasion or burglarly would be low on base... But then agian, you guys have base police forces for a reason. A big dog, a big base ballbat, and maybe a knife might be worth looking into.

Why wouldn't you be allowed to have a firearm in your home though? I can understand them not wantign you to carry it (open or concealed) in uniform... Heck, I can even undertsand them not wanting you carrying it on base when "off duty"... But the sheer number of military types who hunt or collect arms seems to make it a pain not to allow them to store them in their own homes.

I mean, the US taxpayer spent how much money teaching you to handle a gun?
