Guys, I am absolutely torn. I recently traded for a brand new Glock 22 with Tritium night sights. It has been utterly reliable, but I can't shoot it at all. It is nothing like shooting my XD!!! I shoot about 4 inch groups at 15 yards with it. With my XD I am shooting less than two inches at the same distance.

What I need your help with is this. My buddy has a fairly new CZ-75B with an OD green finish and rubber grips that he wants to trade me even for the Glock. It fits my hand like a glove. I shoot it as well as I do my XD. It is a 9mm instead of a .40, but I am thinking about making it an IDPA gun if I trade for it, so the 9mm may actually be a plus.

Would I be crazy to make this trade? How do the prices stack up? He says the CZ is worth about $530 new, but that seems a little high to me. I figure the Glock with the Tritium sights would run at least $625 here. I have two 15 round mags and a ten round mag for the Glock. He has two 10 round mags and one 15 round mag for the CZ. I'm attaching pics of the guns. Thanks for your input guys. Your recomendations will not fall on deaf ears. I have come to highly respect most of the oinions on this board. Just don't suggest both becasue it really isn't an option right now.

Get the one that works better in your hands! ;) If that's the CZ, then get that CZ into your stable ASAP

Keep the Glock unless the CZ comes with $100 or so in cash.

+1.Oops, I forgot about that point. For some reason it didn't trigger in my mind that you were considering a straight up trade (are you?) and if you are I'd say get some more cash out of him for it. You can get a spankin' new CZ 75B right now from $400-$500. Glock with night sights is worth about $625. Why pay $625 for a used 75B?

As far as the guns themselves go though, get a/the CZ 75.

Seems the CZ is almost a unanimous winner. The price point is the real deal breaker though. My buddy refuses to produce any cash in the deal. He knows that I didn't give much for the Glock and he won't budge. How reliable is the CZ compared to the Glock? And how expensive are CZ mags compared to Glocks? Anybody else ever seen an OD green CZ? This one is a first for me.

P.S. Forgot to add that we bought the guns on the same day. He has about three hundred more rounds through his CZ. I hate to lose money in a deal, but I also hate having a gun that I don't shoot very well. Guess I'm just going to have to find a middle ground to walk.

The OD green are around, although think OD green or tan are :barf: . If he won't budge on the money part just keep the Glock and get a CZ through retail.

The CZ is just as reliable if not more than the Glock. Do some searches through threads on here on CZs and their reliability. There are a lot of CZers on here that will attest to how good they really are.

No way I'd pay that much for one though (not that they aren't worth that, they ARE $700 guns for $400) it's just that you could get a new one for quite a bit less.

$625 for a USED 22 even WITH night sites!!!!!!
I'll sell you AS MANY NEW ones AS YOU WANT at that price!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw used 22's with night sites for mid 4's in one of the recient advertisements (Century, CDNN, SOG or one of them)

Get the CZ.

The real question should be, why would you trade a great pistol like the XD which you stated you shot very well for a Glock? (which can't shoot well at all)

Un-do the deal and get your Springfield back, really!!

If you don't enjoy a weapon, it doesn't matter how many armchair commandos recommend it. Get the CZ. If you don't like the CZ, I'll buy it from you, and you can get whatever you think works the best. Fit is one of the most important features of a firearm (other than function!)--I don't care how many glocks will function beyond the apocalypse, if they don't "fit" my hand and I cannot shoot it, I won't have one. The CZ sounds like it will make you happy in a way the Glock definitely isn't--I think you can answer this one on your own, from that alone.

Archangel, who said I got rid of the XD? It's not going anywhere...EVER! It is a .45 though and I can't justify shooting that high priced ammo in IDPA.

Also, I was quoting new prices earlier. Not the used prices. Just trying to show the kind of playing field we are on here. One gun (my Glock) is worth quite a bit more than the other (the CZ). Just wanted opnions on how many people would take a loss to get a gun they were more comfortable with. Guess I should have been more clear. Thanks for all the input so far guys.

Coming from a huge GLOCK fan, go for the trade (- cash). It's just not the one for you. Doesn't matter how superior a weapon is if you don't shoot it well, you have to move on!

So you bought a .40sw to save on ammo costs, because .45acp is too expensive? :scrutiny:

You need a 9mm.

jlh, I got the Glock practically for free in a trade, and at the time I had no intention of ever shooting in any kind of competition. It was too good of a deal to pass up at the time. My buddy has agreed to let me shoot the CZ in the comp this week end. If I do well then I think I am going to make the trade. Only problem is, my wife found the CZ today and fell in love with it. Guess she will be the one getting a new pistol at my expense.:D

Yeah, the right deal can make any caliber look better.

Well, if you can swing it, see if you can't get just as good a deal on buying his cz. As much as your friend might like your 22, straight cash talks too. BTW you know you can get an aftermarket 9mm barrel for the 22 right?

Anyways, I don't think you can go wrong here whatever you decide. Let us know what you do.

Sorry, the first part of your post gave me the impression you traded the XD for the Glock. I guess not LOL !!

Since you seem to be so happy with the CZ then you should get the CZ. It's quite obvious you don't like the Glock...

I have both. My CZ75B was my first semi-automatic handgun and immediately got a Kadet .22LR kit for it, which let me practice the platform. That said, I was surprised by how well my Glock fit my hand and how much more accurate I was with it than the CZ75... in fact, it drove me a little nuts at first, since I figured the gun a practiced with more I should be better with. But Reason finally gripped me and I realized whatever my emotional attachment to the CZ75, you should focus on what fits you best. So the Glock is now my primary. In your case, it would seem the CZ75 fits you much better than the Glock, so don't hesitate to switch... the CZ75 is a great gun (trigger's a little weird- ironically coming from me, a Glock user- but I'm told that can be worked on).

(Edit: To clarify on the trigger... starts out heavy and a little gritty, but after thousands of pulls, it a tad lighter and smooth... but now it's a little mushy.)

Make the trade. You say you do not shoot the Glock well. I bet you will like the CZ if you like your XD. I like my XD SC and my CZ clones by Witness.

Didn't Col Cooper think very highly of the CZ? He based the Bren Ten on its design.Glock vs CZ CZ wins hands down.

As much as I was against it in my OP, I may just have to break down and try to have my cake and eat it too. I am going to see if my buddy will just take cash for the CZ. It's money that I don't have right now, but he doesn't plan on getting rid of it any time soon. I don't particularly care for some aspects of the Glock, but I do like the night sights and the fact that it has a lot fewer rounds down it's pipe than the CZ does. I think may just try to have both. Keep the comments and suggestions coming though because my wife may shoot down my plans of keeping both.:D If only I could just get her to fall in love with this little CZ.....hhhhhmmmmmm;)

Why trade?

Sounds like you may come out ahead if you buy the CZ and sell the Glock...;)
