Hey guys, this Saturday I'm going take my class for CCW, the instructor said they are setup for Florida CHLs (I live in Louisiana). I found he means they have everything needed to process a Florida CHL (Passport photo equipment, finger print cards, everything so when you leave the class Saturday night you can drop it in the mail). Assuming I get it in the mail Saturday night, and add a week each way for mail, anyone have an estimate of how long it takes for the paperwork to go through.

the general timeline I hear for non-res is between 5 and 7 weeks. Mine took 5 weeks and 6 days.

Can't you speed up the processing by getting electronic fingerprints taken at your local sheriff's office?

I left town for a week and it was there when I got back. Most people I know had to wait 10-15 days total. Out of state might take longer, but I doubt it. It might also depend on load at dept of agriculture and consumer products, which might be a seasonal thing. Dunno.

No, FL uses livescan and the only way to speed up the process is to have your prints taken on a livescan system in FL so they can be electronically submitted to the dept of agriculture (I am not clear on if you have to request this or not when getting your prints taken). Even if your local PD uses livescan they still have to print out on the fbi card and mail them to FL so they can scan them in or whatever they do at that point.

I just put my completed package in the mail on Saturday. I used the electronic fingerprints, and I've been told it might take as little as 2 weeks to process.

Mine went out last Monday. The application package says 90 days, but I've been told that it usually takes more like 60. I guess I will find out soon.

Not an out of state sheriff, but if you are in FL, you can get them done there. They will give you a file number and a reciept. You enclose that with your application. Mine took 2 weeks.
