A nearby Type 07 FFL / Class 02 SOT built a smoothbore pistol (AOW) for me from a Thompson/Center Encore pistol frame and a 28 gauge shotgun barrel. The transfer tax was only $5.
I took a box of 28 gauge AA target loads to the range.
Recoil wasn't bad at all. It produced a very dense pattern of #9 shot at approximately 7 paces. I ended up shooting 20 rounds (I decided to keep a few shells on hand for snake duty).
Right now it has a cylinder bore barrel. I hope to get the choke tubes reinstalled. I also hope to get a front bead reinstalled. This might very well become my favorite firearm.
