While speaking about SF’s new law requiring gun owners to keep their handguns locked up, S.F. District Attorney Kamala Harris said,

"Just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home doesn't mean that we're not going to walk into that home and check to see if you're being responsible and safe in the way that you conduct your affairs,"

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Well, it looked good on paper.:(

Maybe someone should show up at Kamala's house, tell her they are there to check if all her perscription drugs are stored in their correct perscription bottles, and see if she gets the hint.

I guess the constitution doesn't apply in S.F. :banghead:

How do people like that get elected???

Let them try it.

As wacky as I think some SCOTUS rulings have been, that's such a clear violation of the 4th Amendment that even Ruth Bader Ginzburg might even notice, if she's awake during the testimony.

This would be a good smackdown in the courts, and SF needs that right about now.

This is pretty true... the repercussions of a politician ordering this could be pretty big (and then they would just have to be pardoned :cuss:). Remember people are allowed to say pretty much what they want but when they go out and physically try it, there's the violation of our rights.

Still the fact that any political type would even have the mindset that this is perfectly acceptable would have our forefathers up in arms. As it should every citizen in the country.

True enough.

HOWEVER...

There's an Old West prison a few hours' drive from here, in Yuma, AZ, the hottest town in the US. "Breaking rocks in the hot sun" takes on another dimension of suffering in Yuma.

It's a museum now, and they have pictures of old prisoners along with their sentences and the "crimes" they committed. Sure, there were robbers and murderers, but there were also people convicted of acts that would not be anything remotely criminal today, and sentenced to a few years of hard time.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. That's never changed.

Mmm hmmm.

"Excuse us, you're on our list of registered gun owners, and we're here to poke around your house to be sure you're behaving."

Every time I think I can't be anymore aghast at what people who are responsible for justice in this country think of the populace they're beholden to, something like this comes along. PR problem nothing, she ought to be fired outright.

In fact.. and I don't normally do this, I'mma write that... person, a letter.

E-mail to the SF DA.

Coming from a public official, this statement is both abhorrent and frightening. Such disregard, indeed outright contempt for the sanctity of the fourth amendment should be answered by immediate censure.

You would do well, Ms Harris, to remember that you serve the people, they are not your chattel.

Funny you should mention that. I was inside the Yuma Prison taking
a tour back in the late 60's. That place WAS and IS H*LL ON EARTH !

How anyone ever survived doing time there, I'll never know.

I should be legal - I'm using the same gun locks that the police and Secret Service are using.

Montana/Wyoming?? Had a law on the books (might still have).
About Marijuana and going to prison for life (having one cigarette) Hmmm

This was in the 60's 1960.

Isnt that where the VP has a lot of land:scrutiny:

Wyoming, has been that way since Tom Horn was killing and being killed.
Nothing new about total power in various locations.

This situation in San Francisco is interesting, for it is Democratic LOL. Most feel the Democratic folks are liberal. Hmmmm
Lets be fair, this is not a liberal state, it is Rebublican as a rule. But in certain locations it is Democratic. Is'nt that swell to know:confused:

as has been said before, if they think they are coming through my doors, they had better have a warrant, or after it is over i am pressing harrassment, trespassing, and violations of rights charges. and yes, i would sue that "attorney" personally for the 4th amendment violations.

i dont live in that area, but how long before this cancer spreads throughout the state, then the country?

And you'll win. That's my point. I'd donate to the defense of anyone who does this, too.
