What .44 Special/Mag Ammo?

For cheap plinking stuff, I've used MagTech and S&B. Good brass, too, for reloading.

Magtech is good for cheap plinking ammo. Georgia Arms loads a decent round that's $19 and mild enough for plinking (chrono'd at 1100fps from my 5.5" Redhawk).

Otherwise, all I shoot in 44mag are my own handloads. 300g@1300fps. W00T!

Use 44 special cases, Winchester large pistol primers, and 7.5 grs of Unique with a good 240-250 gr lead swc. You'll be quite pleased.

+1 on FAboy's load. 'cept I use CCI LP primers and 240 JHP.

As with any firearm, no two will shoot the same ammo the same way. You'll have to work up a load for each one. It's best to use .44 mag cases loaded to .44 Special velocities if you don't want the blast etc of the magnum. It eliminates the ring of lube gunk in the cylinders and the chamber.

Yes, I've never shot any .44 Special cases in mine........and I don't intend to.

Best to load your magnum cases a little lighter than to go with the short case.
