From the top, Savage manufactured No4 Mk1*, Gibbs/Navy Arms No1 MkIII converted to 45-70, and a Golden State Arms Santa Fe Division Model 1944 Supreme based on a No4 Mk1.
They are all real fun to shoot!

In before MJ posts gratuitous No4T sniper pics. :D

Here's my family...

There's some recent additions, but that's most of them.

Enfield 2A, made at the Ishapore Aresenal in India in 1965, Chamber in 7.62x51 NATO, has a 12 rd detachable mag and uses M14 stripper clips to charge the mag.

Ishapore 2A, 7.62x51 NATO, 10 round detachable box magazine, has correct .303 calibre 2,000 meter sights (the 2A1 has sights for the 7.62 round out to 800 meters), made in 1965. It's a real shooter. Because of its weight and stock design, the recoil is extremely mild.

unless you got a screwy Cali mag, that Enfield 2A has a 12 round detachable mag:)
Good shooting rifle, if not a cool conversation piece!

Little bit of everything. Some additions, some deleations, but about right. I need more though.

Guess I need some new pics to with the additions (MJ, no "T's" yet!).

I've heard there are a lot of "conversions" being done to make these Enfields look like the jungle carbine. But, for 100 bucks back in the 80's, I thought it looked kinda nice. I also have one converted to shoot 410 shotgun shells. Never fired it. I just like the looks of it. I think I only gave about 50 bucks for it.

tkcomer, I'm pretty sure you have an authentic Jungle Carbine. It is marked No5MKI, which is correct for the Jungle Carbine. The "conversions" are usually made from No4MKI and are so marked. Yours also has the hollowed out bolt knob that is a mark of the Jungle Carbine. I'm no expert, but I think you have the real thing there.

Your no. 5 mk1 is the real deal for sure. I was given a sporter no. 5 about a year ago. The bbl. was real dark but she cleaned up just nice. I installed a -.030 front sight to bring her in zero. So far my best group was with an ak hollow base bullet behind some h335 powder. Except for 1 called flyer I managed a little over 1 1/2 inch group at 50 yards. I'm still expermenting trying to get the groups down a little, although some say these rifles are not very accurate. Time will tell. I measured a fired bullet and it miked right on .311 so bullets will be no problem.

Go to www.brassfetcher.com and click on the .303 British and see what this old ctg. is capable of. This test was with factory ammo.

I bought it almost 20 years ago and kept reading about the "conversions", Just figured I had one of those. Since then, I've developed bursitis in my shoulder. My 308 Remmy will make it hurt for days. This gun really doesn't kick that much more than the 308, but I probably won't fire it again. Glad to know it's the real deal. Doesn't matter though, I just like the looks of it. Now it makes me wonder where it's been.

This is my 1967 Ishapore 2A1, that I recently converted to a scout. I've had this rifle for about ten years, and had the itch for a new project. enfieldishyscout.gif

Markallen,
Do you have to plug that thing in to make it work?:neener:

Seriously, though, those are some good looking warhorses.
