I voted for the XD because of the grip angle. If Glocks fit you, get that. Both have excellent reliability and I have no preference at all for tiny guns. Fitting your hand is FAR more important than being the littlest gun on the block.

Or if really compact is needed, the CZ-2075 RAMI, shown here with optional extended 14 round magazine and HBE Specialty Leatherworks COMIII holster.

Of your choices, I voted Glock 26, but the S&W M&P compact is a sweet gun as well. The Glock 19 is a good gun, but the shorter butt of the 26 will conceal better. I've had good luck with my Taurus 111 pro, but you just had a bad marriage with one of those so I understand.

G26 is the best choice. It's small, good capacity, heavy enough to make recoil insignificant, light enough to be very comfortable to carry.

One of the best arguments for the Glock is that it's so simple to disassemble and there are so many aftermarket parts for it. You can fix or improve any aspect yourself.

And of course Glocks are extremely reliable, especially the 9mm flavors. They eat any kind of ammo happily.

This is one of the old steel "electoless nickel" models. I love it.

XD-9 Sub-Compact

The XD-9 SC over the Glock 26. Here's why:

(1) Much better grip angle and ergonomics than the 26
(2) Grip safety
(3) Striker status indicator, both visual and tactile
(4) Ambi magazine release (especially nice if you're having to shoot weak hand)
(5) Loaded chamber indicator, both visual and tactile
(6) Comes with both a 10 and 16 round magazine -- your choice.
(7) Lifetime warranty

1 - That's very subjective. There are many people who like the Glock's grip and dislike the XD's.

2 - What real use is a grip safety on a gun with a long trigger pull? I can see it on a 1911 but not otherwise. Most AD's occur during holstering, and a grip safety offers no protection in that scenario.

3- All Glocks have an inherent striker indicator. If the trigger is forward the striker is cocked. No need for any other silly indicators.

4 - I'll give the XD bit of credit here.

5- LCI has been standard on Glocks for quite a while now, although I see no need and have no use for it.

6- There are numerous size Glock mags, including 10, 17, and more rounds. They're cheap too.

7 - Glock doesn't advertise lifetime warranty, but if you read the reports from customers you'll find they almost always "do the right thing". Glock's customer support is excellent. By the way, aside from a cracked frame, Glocks are so simple and afermarket parts so numerous that you can repair or improve any aspect yourself.

Bottom line - advantage Glock - much more mature design than the XD, much better aftermarket support, and a proven reliability record beyond question.

you DO know yer not suppose to use +p loads in the 145 right?!

I voted other.
I dont recommend Glock because I dont like the 2 I owned.. (19 and 17)

Id say go with Kahr, but try the CW9. P9 if you wanna spend a bit more. both have functioned flawlessly for me, are extremely accurate, and quite sturdy..
the CW9 is as sub-compact as I am willing to go, and it preforms on par to other mid size-same-caliber pistols Ive owned and shot.
and its more packable than pocket lint!

I hear the XD's are nice, my cousin has one in .40 I havent tried out yet..

I have shot all your choices at one time or another. I have owned a G26. I worked fine for CCW. A tad small for my hands. If it was my money, I buy an H&K P2000.
I have one in .40, and love it.

Edit to add.

The G26 is a Sub-Compact pistol.

If you want 9mm compact, in the Glock line. You will need to look at the G19.
