Does anyone here own a Taurus Millenium Pro? What do you think of it? I'm thinking about getting to replace my PPK/S for daily carry.

PT 145 & PT111....Both great guns. A little heavy on the trigger but I am used to a 1911. I do carry my PT 145 everyday while at work.

Have a PT111 Mil/pro. Excellent service so far. Shoots to POI, brisk recoil, but technique takes care of that.

Check out whether a .45ACP, 9mm., or a .40S&W might be right for you.

How much recoil one can tolerate will be part of the equation. Many find the Pro pistols in any of the calibers to easy as far as recoil, accuracy, and dependability go.

.40 S&W may be a bit more snappy than the 9mm. or the .45ACP

have a pt145 about 550 rounds through it no issues. Good accuracy for such a short barreled pistol. Light recoil for a .45 of its size. Easy to conceal. Great price. Get one you wont be disappointed.

I carry my pt140pro almost all of the time. I have never had the slightest issue from it. I have shot defense rounds, cheap stuff, but mostly reloads. I am very pleased with it.

PT 145, couple of things to watch out for. The Capture Recoil spring guide rod assembly has a tendency to NOT like +P ammo, the spring starts poking out from underneath the barrel when this happens so don't even consider shooting it. Taurus also had a 4 month backlog on getting these parts.

Mine had a problem of going back into battery even with the new assembly. I got disgusted with it since I couldn't trust it anymore and sold it.

Good guns, just watch what ammo you put in them. DON'T PUT ANY +P ammo in them by any means.

I have a PT111 MilPro with HiViz sights and a Hogue Handsall, Jr.. I own compacts by HK, Walther, Sig, Steyr, RIA, Glock and a few others I'm not remembering at the moment, and this is the gun that I cannot beat. It's completely reliable, accurate, light and small, comfortable in the hand, and it holds 12 rounds of 9mm. Mine is the older double action only which I far prefer for my use. I hope to add the .45 version when a double action only can be found. I do not care for the new SA/DA versions as there is no way to de-cock the gun without dumping the mag and racking the slide allowing the round to fall through the grip. That said the safety (also on the DA only) allows one to carry the gun what amounts to locked and cocked. I think Taurus had it right the first time with the DA only. My DA only trigger is smooth and light. At a little under or over three bills for a new gun it's hard, if not impossible, to beat.

Mil Pro

I am happy with my Mil Pro, I have a 3rd Gen. PT-111. It has a great grip, 12+1 capacity that is hard to beat for the size and has been very reliable. I have only had one ammo related failure to extract in almost 1000 rounds. My only complaint is the finish I wish I would have gone with the stainless finish. The safety leaves a little wear on the blue of the slide after a while and I worry about rust so I keep it well oiled. Taurus in my opinion is one of the best values for handguns right now.
Good Luck and Be Safe!

PT111 Pro. Great carry gun. 1000+ rounds with no failures. I, as well, would go with the stainless finish because of the safety wearing the finish off.

I've got a 2nd gen Mil-Pro 40 that has been a great pistol. I've probably got close to 3000 rounds out of mine, no malfunctions. These guns are surprisingly accurate, very comfortable to shoot, I really like mine, its my CCW.:D As a bonus, these can be had for under $400 out the door, pretty tough to beat that.

I handled one today and it felt great for a small pistol. I have a full size M&P-9, so I handled a M&P compact also, and the Mill pro felt way better in my hand. There's a local dealer that gets $309 for blued and $319 for two tone and offers $25 range credit with any firearms purchase. I'm selling my PPK/S Friday and am going to get the Mill Pro Sat morning. All I need to do is get a cheap $15 holster to use for a month while http://www.southernholsters.com makes one of my favorite ones for me.

How do I tell a Gen3 from a 1 or 2?

the 3rd gen has millennium only on the left side and pt145pro on the right side, thats if you buying the 145, or pt140pro if your buying the 140, and so on hope this helps.

I'm not really a Taurus fan due to the numerous problems I've had with 3 of their revolvers that I own. Additionally, I find their customer service to be lacking to say the least.

In spite of the above, I took a chance and purchased a PT145 Mil Pro and I love it. Not only has it been 100% reliable, I find it amazingly accurate at 15 yards.

As you can see, I installed a HIVIZ front sight on mine...

Catbird, where did you get that site and how much? And how well does it light up in lets say a dark alley way? If its not too expensive would tritium be worth the extra cost?

That particular sight is made for a Browning Hi Power. It fit the Taurus dovetail okay, but was a little loose so I shimmed it with one of the blades from an old feeler gauge I didn't need - it is now nice and tight.

IIRC, I ordered the sight from Brownell's and paid ~$25.

If you want to be prepared to shoot in darkness, you'd be better served by a sight with tritium (IMO).

My PT138 is crap. The front site came loose during the first shoot. It needed to be tightened and lock-tited to keep it from always coming lose. There was no lock-tite on it from the factory. I've never had a weapon do that.

It eats everything I put in it. The trigger pull is a tad heavy and it's reset is about 16 miles long.

Mine doesn't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside, but that seems to be a flaw in just this particular pistol.

Hey Adam5, in addition to my PT111 MilPro that I posted about earlier, just today I picked up a PT145 MilPro. Ten rounds of .45 caliber is a lot of firepower. I've decided to live with the SA/DA set-up of the gun as opposed to the DA only. If the gun equals my PT111 in reliability it will replace it.

It amazes me that Taurus can fit ten rounds of .45 in a gun that's about half to 2/3 the size of other guns that only holds seven. I paid $339 for the gun brand new blued and I could have had the stainless slide for the same price. That's actually an incredible deal.
