Are You Serious, a baynotte on a Handgun??

To me it looks like they developed a system that their local military wanted, and then offered it for civilian sales. It's like a silencer do civilians really need a silencer?

Well the last time I checked, I can still hear. Yes, I could use a silencer. I'll take the high road and only mention in passing that mandating what people "need" is ill advised.

Czech military doesn't use the bayonet mount for the SP-01. Like other posters have already noted, it started as kind of a joke/promotional thing and then demand fueled supply after that.

One of my local shops has one mounted on a CZ and it gets lots of attention. People are asking to handle the pistol all the time, so from a shop owners point of view probably a great idea. They also have atleast one still in the package sitting on a shelf so possibly these things are selling? I don't view it as being more or less practical than laser grips. Both I'm sure have their uses, neither of which do I find useful for myself. I say if it works for you buy it, even if the only use is to make you feel like a more tacticool zombie hunter. ;)

Hey Bones, out of curiosity what are they asking for the package? I don't have a CZ (yet) but would like to know how much for the knife and attachment.

I am beginning to believe that most of the posters see this as a semi-joke, that probably increased attention to the product. As such, a smart marketing move, whether it is pracatical or not is another question.

Thanks,

The question of the day here is will Comp-Tac make a holster that will handle the gun with the "attachments" mounted, hahaha.

It's time to leave!!!

They had a CZ with a bayonet at the gun shop where I bought my CZ 75B 9mm Satin Nickel pistol. I passed on the bayonet reasoning that if a BG got past 16 rounds of 9mm jhp I would just throw the gun at him and run like hell.:uhoh:

Why stop with just a blade?

And the French Apaches were serious,

I hate to feel like gun companies shouldn't be allowed to introduce new and exciting products but I am not a fan of the Mall Ninja crap.

I am happy that we get neat new products but I am not one for hanging junk off the end of my pistol. A pistol should have a balance and an ability to point. Some of these huge pistols that have a bunch of crap hanging off them seem like they would be nearly useless as a CCW.

Without the tactical block on the front of it, the CZ SP01 tips the scales at 41 ozs. It's big, bulky, and heavy. Aside from a Desert Eagle, it'd be hard to imagine a pistol less ideally suited for CCW. I bought mine exclusively for range work, a role at which, IMO, this gun will excell. If I want to CCW something with an equivalent capacity, I'll go with my either my M&P 9mm, FNP9, or G17. Either of those seem to weigh less loaded than the SP01 does empty. Can it be CCW'ed? Absolutely. Suspenders would be the order of the day. Maybe a heavy duty shoulder holster. :D I hear the Secret Service had a special heavy duty shoulder holster made for their Uzis.

I'm still getting the Tactical Block.:neener: Nothing eggs me on like somebody telling me it's useless.

I learned a long time ago that just b/c a weapon or accessory doesn't fit my concepts of taste or usefulness, others shouldn't be denied it if they so desire it. If it's legal and you want it, go for it.

I find the above is true for many things, not just weapons and their accessories. I've been asked why I bought many things. Why did you buy a Macintosh computer? Why do you have a ham radio? Why did you get a rifle? Why did you buy a ground driven lawn mower? I try to not be critical of what others own, or do, as that is their business. That doesn't mean I still don't ask why. I have curiosity and I am often reminded that I should not have asked people why once I hear them answer.

Bringing this on topic... I can see the usefulness of a bayonet on a handgun. I just don't see the usefulness of this particular bayonet. If someone wants to buy one then that is their business. I realized that products are on the market because people buy them, not because they are particularly useful or have any other beneficial attribute beyond being desired.

600 rounds so far through my SP-01 Tactical w/o a jam or other problem. Bayonets and marketing not withstanding it’s still as reliable and as accurate as any CZ.

(and it’s been an enjoyable and fun 600 rounds, may I add…)
