Here are a few more pictures, the last one is located on the under side of the stock, between the action and the but plate. I am begining to think that this is one someone put together, and took some time to get it close to correct, the only number that doesn't match the serial number is on the back half of the bolt. Thanks again for all the help IDing this rifle.

nice buy, a litlte step on the price, but as long as you are happy. one thing to rememmber is that, if your going to buy a rifle from a respected store, as in cabellas, gandermountian, and even the smaller chains and stores, they will most likly have the gun headspaced for you just to make the sale. besides, i think that they have to have used guns that are traded in headspaced before they can put it up for sale anyways (or thats what i have thought???) also remmember that there are a lot more guns out there, and what i tend to do isi mpulse buy, and it has biten me in the behind a couple of times. but.... live and learn. brian

I agree brian, everyone pays more than a rifle is worth on occasion. I am very happy with my purchase, and though i might have paed more than it is "worth" i know it will be worth more in 15 years. I will still have it headspaced before i shoot it jut as a precaution. after all it is god only knows how old rifle. I tend to drop by our cabellas, they tend to occasionally have neat old rifles, i got mu K31 there for $120, they mislabeled the price after all, should have bought 2. thanks for the IDing my new toy.

Cabelas nor any other chain are required to have ANYTHING at all checked on any used gun its totally up to the buyer and Cabelas nor any that I know of will have a smith check them as this leaves them open to liability should there be an accident if they had their smith do anything to the gun........ IF there is an accident then it can come back on them because they checked it that can be interpreted as a "certification" of it being safe to fire which goes against the "AS IS" statement on the used guns

Dstorm1911 i kind of figured that, thus this rifle will be headed to the gunsmith to be checked out tomorrow before i go to school (working on my IT degree). actually Cabellas made me sigh a paper saying that it was a "used gun" and that they where not responsiable. I worry less about matching numbers guns, but my gun smith likes me since i am always rolling in with guns that need to be head spaced. I am mostly sure this one is ok, but it just makes sense to have it checked. I almost had a SVT-40 blow up on me, and after that all of mynew toys get checked before i take the chance with pulling the trigger. I know i will get flamed for this, but that SVT-40 i couldn't bare selling to someone at a gun show even with then info that it plit cases both factory and surplus. I gave it to the cops to be destroyed cuz i couldn't in a right mond sell it to some one else knowing it split cases and might not be safe to fire. any how i don't want to visit the frendlt neighberhood hospital (or worse) after having a gun blow up on me, so i have em all cehecked out be my gun smith, takes him a week or so, but i don't cuz i trust him.

I killed my first deer with a czech mauser in 7mm. Everyone I knew who hunted with rifles told me it wasn't cool or powerful enough. A shot through the pump of an 8 point turned me into a "question the status quo" guy for good.

Nice rifle. Good deal.

Tanks i feel like i at least got a "ok" deal on this one. I really like it, and of course the wife doen't understand, thankfully she doesn't mind.

So i took the rifle to be checked out by my gun smith and come to find out it is a .308 not a 7mm mauser. is this something i should keep? a M93 action in .308? it checked out ok with the gunsmith, but haven't fired it yet. thanks for the help.

Ive seen chiliean mausers rechambered in .308 sold as good shooters back in the 90s and never hear about deaths or injuries of them blowing up. We cant forget the mauser is a pretty strong action. But if you decide to fire it, do a test firing with it tied down to a pile of tires nad a nice long stirng to the trigger.

Ive even seen companies online selling 7mm Rem Mag as 7mm mauser, labelled "safe" for surplus mausers.
