I saw a site that had a 15 minute trigger job, basicly you cut one leg off of the hammer spring and bend the trigger spring legs. Has anyone tried it? Is it worth trying just to lighten the pull up some. I know it is not gonna be a match grade trigger but my stock one is pretty heavy, just looking to lighten it some

Yes. It works to lighten the pull, and it functions in my home-built AR-15 just fine.

It doesn't set off .50 BMG from my FAR-50 upper, though - I had to put the original springs back.

Also a good way to lower the reliability, so think about what you are using the rifle for before doing it.

The easiest and most reliable 15 minute trigger job would be to drop in a Rock River 2 stage or a McCormick.

TexasRifleman, I haven't had a single issue with reliability in over 4k rounds of mixed S&B, BlackHills, and American Eagle .223 out of mine.

well I went ahead and tried it, figured what the hell if it isn't reliable it's only a couple of springs. Dry firing tells me it cut the pull weight in half, I will try it at the range sometime this week and see how it goes. BTW this is for a varmint/DMR setup that I use my handloads in so no worry with military primers.

Just remember that really light triggers in semi automatic rifles is generally a bad idea. It's not really a good idea to tweak an AR trigger if you don't know what you're doing, so just be careful.

15 min trigger job

Yes, I did it to my Bushy AR ES-15 carbine and it works great. Don't cut the hammer spring off as much as they say, and it touches the bottom better. It lightened up the trigger alot and pulled the groups tight [1/2 " 100 yds] and, all ammo fires great. You can also get a reduced power spring kit at Brownell's real cheap. Just don't polish the sear down past the hardened area.
