For Henry Bowman's daughter

What do little girls need ?

My daughter wanted a pink gun, she didn't need it, but if it keeps her interested :)
Pax, not all of us skeered, I shoot my daughters pink 10/22 more than I do mine( red dot works better for low light possums&coons)
I just wonder what the animals think when they see a pink gun aimed at them:p

Ps. Where can I find pink muffs?

Andy,

Where'd she get the pink muffs? Duracoat, or is someone making them now?
I called and asked her - she said Academy has them in stock, but she couldn't recall the specific brand. About $20, though.

Edit: The brand-name is "Radians"

HB,

Michaela's .22 CZ upper AR is Duracoated (Dan at VOW made me swear that I'd never ask him to put pink and white hearts on a purple AR again ).

Now, with that collaspable stock, I think it'll fit some little girl just fine. I'm sure her dad would be proud.

Oh, I am so gonna give Dan a hard time about the hearts next time I see him! I didn't realize the work was his. hehehe I can't wait for the next gunshow.

Okay, maybe my "why pink?" comment earlier came off as a little harsh... It wasn't meant to be. I was honestly just thinking of some of the really odd things I've seen marketed in pink to make them girly... Bic throwaway razors, versus pink "Lady Bics" which are the same thing, in pink, and cost a buck more.

When our Dear Daughter starts to shoot, both my wife and I hope against hope that she doesn't want a pink rifle. But if she does, well... She's only a year-and-a-half old but I am sooo one of those Dads that can't help but cave into the demands of his little girl.

I seem to recall seeing an AR15 with a Skull n Crossbones on side, only the skull was wearing a very pretty ribbon. Thats more my style!

Everything comes in pink these days for "breast cancer awareness." That's cool.

I'm planning to leave Tess' lower receiver black. That contrasts nicely with pink furniture and allows her to easily switch to "covert" or "tactical" mode whenever she wants to. ;)

Thain, it's a joke.

Well, I made the mistake of showing this to my 15 year old daughter, who immediately exclaimed, "Sweeeet! I want one for Christmas!" We reminded her that she is saving up for a CAR, not a CAR-15, and that she can shoot my dreary old CAR-15 with the black stock, Ciener conversion, and Black Dog mags any time she wants.

We have made a practice of buying the girls guns (or helping them buy their own), and a handgun or pistol of their choice for their 21st birthday. I can see this one asking for a pink one, especially after this post.

Exactly! This is what Oleg was referring to with reference to "Henry Bowman's daughter." When she saw a pic of Michaela's pink and purple AR, she said, "Why don't I have one of those?"

Probably BlackDog brand see-thru magazines. There's supposed to be another now that looks like a regular (plastic see-thru) twenty-seven round magazines. I've got four 30 round Ceiners (bought before the ban).

I have six of the Black Dog 30 round mags that I bought earlier on this year for a Ceiner conversion kit. It isn't the most accurate thing in the world, but it is a lot of fun for plinking and just blowing off some steam. Once the Ceiner was run in a little, it has been as close to 100% reliable as not to matter.

Yeah, mine wants one of them too now. I have got to make sure she isn't looking over my shoulder anymore when I am reading here!

For those wanting the colored furniture, get with Sinistral Rifleman. Cavalry Arms offers several colors and that's where I got the pink. I also have a pink 20" upper rigged for her.

FWIW and for the "purists", I retained the original, suitably scary black furniture to put back on her rifle if/when she wants it. I like blued steel and nice walnut too, and even "basic black", and we have our share in the safe, but there's more to life than just chocolate and vanilla. . .

I personally think it is REALLY important to pass our interests and skills to the next generation. Like some of the other posters above point out, anything that adds to the interest and fun is ALL good. Many of you would be amazed at how much interest the unusual appearance generates and how many young girls walk right by my black and OD green AR-15s, but are hooked on my daughter's rifles and suddenly would like to shoot it. She also has a pink stocked custom tactical rifle, capable of 3/8 moa accuracy that she uses for long range competitions, which I painted pink and white "doily-flage", LOL.

For the critics: What have **you** done lately to promote the sport to someone who is otherwise afraid of "evil" firearms or has otherwise limited interest?

I thought not. . . .

PensyPlinker,

You should be thrilled that your daughter wants one. Tell her that they're expensive, but if she gets good enough with a plain old .22 Marlin you'll have her pink or purple or chartreuse rifle made up for her. :D

There is a good chance something like that will happen, hso! She absolutely loves her Remington 597 and is a pretty decent shot with it. And the AR with the Ceiner in it is even more fun as far as she is concerned. A pink rifle would be tops for her!

Here is a couple of pics of my little girl and her pink rifle.
