I've used the search but I can't seem to find the info so I thought I'd post the question here. :)

What tripod would you recommend for someone who's starting out shooting Hi-Power and some Garand matches? I can't seem to find any consensus and the prices seem to be all over the place. ($150-$500) The scope that will be sitting on it will be a Kowa 611 if that makes any difference. (I picked up a nice used one for $250 so spending $500 for a tripod is making me choke. :) )

Regards,
Dave

Champions Choice.

I like the big three legged model because each leg is adjustable for uneven ground.
With a light scope, like yours, talk to Champions Choice or Champions shooters supply and get the correct head to hold it. You'll still need the L-bracket to get the tripod screw UNDER the scope instead of hanging off its side. That threaded hole is a weak point on any scope, but especially Kowas.

Ray-Vin scope stands are widely used in highpower. Some have even copied his design. You will not need to buy any extra brackets for this stand. I really like mine, Ray is a good guy and stands behind his products.

I have a Ray-vin with the quick detach mount and I love it. The QD mount saves wear and tear on the scope threads too. You won't be disappointed with a Ray-Vin stand, Ray and Ruby are great folks and will take good care of you.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the advice. I bought a Ray-Vin and it arrived yesterday . . .all I can say is "Wow" it's really nicely laid out and the adjustment is about as simple as you can possibly get.

Thanks again,
Dave
