A resident Utah CCW is honored in 37 states last I counted. Utah allows carry in ALL schools, K-phd. My hometown actually has a mandatory firearms ownership law. For any other state claiming to be gun friendly, ask if you can carry in bars, restaurants, etc.
Google photos of Canyonlands, Arches, Lake Powell, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Snow Canyon, Red Cliffs, San Rafael Swell, Goblin Valley, Moab jeep trails, the High Uintas, Mount Timpanogos, and Monument Valley. That about sums it up for beauty. And remember that Lake Powell alone has more shoreline than the U.S. west coast. (Not bad for being the second most arid state in America.)
And out in the stretches of desert that aren't pretty enough to be state parks, national parks, or monuments of some flavor or other, you can shoot as much as you want to.
I am currently in California on military orders. When I drive home in July, I will strap on my .45 as soon as I pass through Truckee Pass, since Nevada now honors my Utah permit. (As far as I know, Utah is the only out of state permit honored in Nevada.)
