I recently bought a Sig P232 and noticed after shooting it a few times there is a small gouge in the mag follower. It is pretty small, and fairly shallow, but I wanted to know if this is normal?

Thanks.

Mine has it too-not sure how it will change over time though, as I've only got about 300 rounds through the gun.

Is the follower plastic (it looks like it is)? My P220 mags have plastic followers as well and they all have a little worn area like that, and in nearly the same area too. I figure it's just normal wear considering it's plastic. Honestly I don't think it's an issue since it's such a minor indentation (not even an indentation really). Over the past 8-10 months I've put something like 3000-3500rds through my P220 and have never had a problem with my mags, and the followers on each all look like yours with the same wear area. Come to think of it, in that time period I can't remember one single FTF, FTE, double feed, etc ever happening that wasn't due to open tip JHP's being used with a Sprinco recoil reducer in the gun (switching back to the stock guide rod cured the JHP issue). I've never had any issue with FMJ's. I realize it's an apples to oranges comparison but, basically what I am saying is don't worry about it the mag will work fine. ;)

I would guess that its probably just the case lip scraping your mag follower. My P232 mags have that as well and it has not gotten any worse.

Yes the follower is plastic. Sounds like it is normal though. I just wasn't sure, and figured I'd ask others who have the same gun. Thanks.

Well, Son of A.....

I just pulled my spare mag out the desk drawer, unloaded it, and sure enough.......:what:

Exactly as you pictured. I'll assume it's normal, because this magazine works just fine. No problems with it.

So I'll say normal and no problems....

Same Here

You know, I will not guarantee it … but I think they come that way.

As everyone else is saying, I too have the exact same markings, in exactly the same place as yours on my mags. And like everyone else, I haven’t had a single problem … My 232 is awesome. :)

So I'll say normal and no problems....

Me too, though it makes a good case for the steel followers available for the P232 mags. However I don't think the plastic ones cause malfunctions.

Good to know that this is in fact normal.

And yes the P232 has been awesome for me so far. 150 rounds fired, with no malfunctions (knock on wood). I plan to carry it when my crossbreed IWB holster gets here in about 3 weeks. I plan on doing a little write up on the gun once I've had time to carry it, and try it with CorBon DPX. I'm waiting on the DPX ammo right now, 2 boxes shipped cost me about $57! Ouch, but I can't get it locally.
