Here is a little story that I hope (for the sake of me not feeling like a total doofus) has happened to at least one of you.
About 3 weeks ago I received my first belt man belt, and let me tell you it's amazing. I sucked it up through regular $10 JC Penny belts, not using a belt, using cheap-o Uncle Mikes holsters, until I finally ponied up the cash for one of these. Next to my gun it was one of the wisest purchases ever.
Naturally I was stoked about trying it out, so I eagerly strapped it on (and wow was it ever stiff) and dropped my C-TAC holster into it. Marrying a top quality holster like a C-TAC and a premium belt like a beltman makes carrying a pistol almost like good sex. I'm at the point now where I'm actually going outside more carrying because it isn't such a God awful chore.
It was a muggy, rancid, typically humid day here in the panhandle of Florida when the wife noticed we didn't have enough pots and pans, which meant I got to make a trip to Bed Bath and Beyond in the outdoor shopping center, since it's the only one around for 100 miles. Knowing that I had an opportunity to wear my new beltman with a C-Tac I actually didn't mind it because I was excited for the wear test. Ok, drop the magazine to make sure it's full, check my chamber. Put gun in holster, put holster in pants and out the door I go.
It wasn't until I was walking around in that damned hangar sized store that I forgot I had my gun on. I thought to myself, "This has to be the result of the belt, because carrying has never been so comfortable." I walked around the entire store just to make sure. After paying entirely too much money for a 12qt stock pot I left.
When I get home I decide to take my gun off, so I go into the office where I keep my stuff and notice something of great importance sitting on my desk.
"Babe, did you find this magazine laying around?"
"What?"
"...you gotta be shi*ing me"
I forgot to put my magazine in my gun before I left! I walked around for probably an hour and half with no magazine and only one in the tube thinking that the belt and holster made it so weightless.
I don't think there are enough :banghead: 's to express how I felt (and still feel). I guess the moral of this story is that making sure your gun is fully loaded when you need it to be is just as important as making sure it isn't when you don't!
