Angelina Jolie Pro Gun?

I'm with cheese on this one, i could care less what an actress thinks about guns or the people who fawn over her opinions

Regardless of what training she's had, why doubt her sincerity when she says she could handle herself?
Would you doubt anyone who posted here if they said the same thing?
Do we own guns and practice with them because we plan to cower under a table if we are ever confronted with evil?

Personally, I find it refreshing to read that there is another woman in the world who is determined to be able to protect herself.

Agreed, I would like to hear the answer to this before making a judgment.

A few years ago, one of the "puff piece" entertainment shows (Extra, Access Hollywood or Entertainment Tonight, don't recall which) once ran a story on Elizabeth Hurley, who had a CCW with a SIG P226 listed on it.

ot sure what guns they'd be, but more than one Liberal-Minded woman has become a she-wolf about protecting kids once she had them, and embraced an armed household as a good idea.

+1 but does that extend to the rest of us having the right to protect ourselves.

From several interviews I've read about the celebrity couple, they've been pushing pretty hard to get Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged made into feature film for the last few years. Obviously it doesn't prove one way or another how they view the second amendment but at the very least they must be closer to the libertarian mindset than most others in Hollyweird. Say what you will about Rand but she had very strong beliefs in all the individual rights of man and if Jolie agrees with that then can't we entertain the possibility that she's not just another hard core leftist when it comes to gun rights?

the fact her stance was broadcast on tv and reposted here is evidence to the contrary. I am not saying it out to carry any more weight than anyone elses to you or me but the fact is celeberties do have more voice than the average joe. Some use it for good others not so much.

She's also a knife enthusiast. Wouldn't surprise me if she loves guns too. Hell, she wore a vile of human blood around her neck.

Steven Segal could well prove to be the bite that most bad guys couldn't chew...with guns or hand-to-hand.

Back on topic, I read a story a few years ago and I think it had AJ and BP getting a CCW in GA. Not at all definitive, but it is a positive indicator.

Lots of responsible, firearm owning adults won't allow their children to play with toy guns since all such play violates the rules of simple gun safety, and could provide negative reinforcement for real firearms usage.

Segal is a real martial artist and an avid pistol shooter. That's why his movies are low on effects, but high on realistic violence (at least where his actions are concerned).

the only problem with segal movies is that every bad seems to just magnetically gravitate to his fist.

A vote's a vote. Maybe someone listens to her enough to vote. These people have fans.

Why not take her at her word? She says that she keeps a gun for protection and is prepared to use it if need be. I have yet to hear anything but unfounded speculation to the contrary on the part of some people here.

Just don't count on her to speak up for YOUR rights when the time comes.

That's the problem I have with this need to find celebrities to champion a cause. Everyone sees the celebrity and thinks, 'Hey! They speak for me!' and then they stop taking responsibility for getting their message out directly.

There are always exceptions to the rule; some folks (e.g. Heston, Sellick) are as good as their word. But in general, counting on a celebrity to champion your cause consistently and articulately is a fools errand.

I thought she had H&K USPs as Lara Croft...

How have I abrogated anybody's right by pointing out that Angelina Jolie being a celebrity doesn't give her opinion any more weight than anybody else's? I really would like to hear this. It should be entertaining.

It does however, carry more weight. She can reach millions of people with one movie or interview. Millions who will listen just because she's a star. How many do we reach as individuals? That is why her opinion is important.

Look at Dennis Quaid, his twins were given an eroneous amount of medication at a hospital. Just because of who he is, he was able to mobilize an entire change in the way medications in this country are administered in hospitals. He aslo spoke before a senate hearing committee. All within 2 years of his twins getting too much of the medicine.

Actors have the potential for enormous political power for/against anything they choose to fight.

Many Hollywood elites and various politicos, anti-gun all, own guns.

They think THEY should own them, not US.

I won't let my future kids play with toy guns either. A gun is a dangerous tool, not a toy. Does that make me anti-gun?
