What is this? Silencer?

Perhaps it is one of those testing tanks similar to the ones the CSIs use in the lab to fire a bullet into water and recover the projectile for ballistics. Much bigger projectile I would imagine!
 
Can others see the picture?

I think that is a German marking on it. I'm not sure though.
 
One of the Russian translates to "ShushPanserOff" so I'm guessing some kind of noise reducer since it makes the panzer go SHUSH :)

Doesn't look particularly portable so must be on a practice range of some kind.

Crazy.....

I have seen this before. I do believe it is a suppressor for a m109A6 howitzer.

Shushpanzer is a local slang term devised for unorthodox or exotic tanks (hence the German word Panzer ;); see also ShushpanGewehr ;), where Shushpan means some non-existant but highly unusual animal - in slang, too)
I know that because i read the Shushpanzer community in LJ daily.

But, alas, i can't see the pic in question as well.

You know how you can get a golf ball launcher for your AR?

This is just the next size up. but it is a Rosie Odonnell/Micheal Moore Launcher.

You stuff them in the front and using a live or blank howitzer round, launch them upwards of 5 miles.

Loads of fun for the entire family.
