Since $1100 -1200 of the money you have is going to the stock and scope, I still recommend getting a Ken Farrell 10 MOA base for $90, and Burris rings. That's all you have money left for. Too bad you've got the DBM requirement, and the all new requirement. My last Savage cost -

For $1250, I'm pretty pleased. And the .294" group (before bedding) doing load development was nice. But you might as well start saving for a barrel. On the plus side, Sharpshooter Supply is developing a large cap mag for the new Savages. I wonder how much it will limit the OAL though.

I have a Ken Farrell base (15MOA) and TPS rings on my 10FP in .308 and I love them both! I've also used the Burris XTR rings on a few other rifles, and they are solid as well. You can't go wrong either way.

I went with a Choate stock and tweaked my Accu-trigger. Still shooting the stock barrel/action, though.
