Since $1100 -1200 of the money you have is going to the stock and scope, I still recommend getting a Ken Farrell 10 MOA base for $90, and Burris rings. That's all you have money left for. Too bad you've got the DBM requirement, and the all new requirement. My last Savage cost -
Model 11 Action (used) - $305
Shilen Supermatch barrel (200 rounds, with brass and dies)- $225 (6.5x47 Lapua)
B&C Medalist - $175
Sightron SIII (6-24) - $500
PRI base - free with action
Burris Rings - $50
For $1250, I'm pretty pleased. And the .294" group (before bedding) doing load development was nice. But you might as well start saving for a barrel. On the plus side, Sharpshooter Supply is developing a large cap mag for the new Savages. I wonder how much it will limit the OAL though.
