Remington 511 Scoremaster - bolt comes right out

I just inherited this gun from my father in law. One of his son's took it apart some years ago and remembers something springing out of it, so now the bolt will come right out and it does not fire.

What kind of costs am I looking at getting it worked on to get it back to working condition, or is it too hard to know with out taking it in to a gun smith?

We (my father in law and me) were looking at the diagram last night and he thought it might be the spring on the trigger (32 and 36 I think) that could be the problem.

My brother in law said when he took it apart he heard something "sproing" out and couldn't ever locate that piece or pieces.

I think we decided we were going to tear it down on wednesday to see what we find, but that info steve gave could help out a bunch, and the new diagram is easier to look at versus what I found...

I DID IT!

We took it apart and out it back together according to the diagram, and it works. Test fired one shot and made sure that it ejected cartridges, which it does!

Now I just need to clean it and oil it up - I don't think it's been done for 20 some years....

My oldest is pretty excited about having a .22 to shoot now too!

True true...but, I have another boy fast approaching .22 ownership age and so he'll need one too - what to do, what to do....hahahaha

Man now I want to spend my lunch hours checking local pawns...hahaha

Yeah this rem 511 was my father in laws first rifle from when he was a kid so it's a solid 50 years old or more. We just started really getting into guns this year and there was talk of getting a cricket for my oldest (9 yr, he'll be 10 by march) for Christmas and so I think my father in law wanted to pass it down to make another first rifle out of it...he's a great guy

I spent about an hour cleaning it last night with my boy, trying to explain to him how I get into this zen place when I'm cleaning...hahaha

After this weekend (camping and shooting) I'm going to have my boy clean it and get completely comfortable with it (need to do that with my wife too, I told her she's gonna clean the handgun).
