I just purchased my first 1,000 rounds of Precision Bullets.
http://www.precisionbullets.com/

I currently load my 180g copper plated Raniers with Titegroup and have been happy with performance. Upon reading the Precision website I see that they do not recommend Titegroup for their bullets as many shooters have experienced lots of smoke and barrel fouling as a result of the fast/hot powder burning the bottom of the bullet.

Precision recommends a number of powders. For the sake of minimizing my powders to go with other calibers I load, I'd like some load recommendations for the following:

Ramshot – Competition/Zip
Winchester – WST
Alliant – Power Pistol
Hodgdon – HP38

Please include OAL, powder type, and powder load.

Thanks gang.

Loads for precision 185gr bullet

You could try this:
3.8- gr. VV N 310 OAL= 1.153"
185.00 gr. Precision TC Bullet
Velocity power factor
898.00 166.13
898.00 166.13
894.00 165.39
901.00 166.69
916.00 169.46
881.00 162.99
899.00 166.32
902.00 166.87
901.00 166.69
912.00
Total 8090.00 166.29
Mean 898.89 166.29
Standard deviation 9.06
This is also good data for the new, swaged bullet.

Cheers,

FWIW,

I use Titegroup with Precision bullets. No leading, but I do get some smoke.

I use 170g .40SW, and 200g .45 bullets.

I don't use them regularly, but I have done some chrono sampling to try and work up a major PF load in my M&P40.

4.5gr titegroup, nominal OAL of 1.33", winchester small pistol primer, 185gr precision bullets in .40.

10 shots, average 924.81 fps
SD 11.9
extreme spread 38.5fps

noticably smoky outdoors.

RAmshot zip 4.5gr, 185 precision moly coated, 1.162" nominal OAL wolf small pistol primers. (1.175 seems to be the limit for loading long in my gun, the OAL on this one was jsut coincidence for the load I was really testing and I just slapped together 20 of these to test with).

10 shot average was 860.18fps
ES = 39.4
I didn't bother doing standard deviation because ti wasn't a major PF load, and because ti was way above minor, so just a data point.

I haven't loaded the 185's but I do use the Precision bullets with Power Pistol powder. I load the Precision 170gr bullets using 5.1gr of Power Pistol at an OAL of 1.13". They shoot well, feel good and don't smoke badly. I have put over 2000 of these through my XD40 with no problems at all.
