I too am in the market for a scope in the $200 range for my Remington Classic in 35 Whelen. All on the list are 3X9X40.
My original short list was, Leupold VX-I ($219), Burris Fulfield ($195-$200) or the Bushnell Elite 3200, ($199).
I visited Cabela's last week, and the scope guy said he usually steers customers towards Leupold based upon their reputation. However, if you look at the "Feedback" on all three of the scopes on MidwayUSA or the Cabela's webpages, all scopes have their followers, with a few detractors.
Now I have a wrench thrown into the works. The Cabela's Alaskan Series 3X9X40 scope has been thrown into the mix. It is normally a $299 scope, which would put it in the Leupold VX -II class. However, I don't know much about this scope and I can get it on sale next week for $189! Seems like a deal but don't know about the quality.
Any thoughts??
