Coyote Bounty - $20 a kill - uncles ranch this weekend... first time

The ar-15 .223 is perfect for coyotes, use hollowpoints and you'll be fine.

If you like dogs you may find shooting coyotes difficult. I don't like doing it. Guess I'm just a softhearted wuss.

Are you going to be in Utah? I was unaware of a bounty paid by the state. Is it a county thing?

I've never shot coyotes, but I'm sure the .223 will make for much quicker kills than the .22.

go with the 223 its a very good round to use for yotes . and like 1kperday said if your really a dog person you may find it a bit troubling shooting yotes. dont get to dissapointed if you dont get one on your first hunt yotes are predators and therfore a sneaky and extremly smart critter how you get a few though you'll be a predator hunter for life then

The big problem is gonna be seeing a coyote. They're not really cooperative in volunteering; they're not at all suicidal.

So 2 ears per coyote, that is $40 per dog. Wouldn't it be better to use the tail only have 1? Just thinking aloud. Mac

Yes, most bounties require BOTH ears or a tail. Never seen a coyote hurt much though. Better off shooting those D@&% roadrunners.

.223, but don't anticipate getting rich (or even paying for your gas). 'Yotes are "wiley" (my apology to Warner Brothers).

Try to get set up for predator calling if you can or find somebody that can. I found with some practice that it really pays off in increasing your number of kills.

Use the 223, a 22LR won't put them down.
Like everyone has said coyotes are sharp. They sometimes circle around the call, checking the scent by getting the wind in their favor. Othertimes you won't see them come in till there within 20 feet of you. Don't move around alot, but still look in all directions, move your eyes. Motion will give you up to them.
Electronic calls are coming down in price, and that puts the call out away from you. I have'nt tried them myself, I still just use a few favorite calls I've had for years. There's even decoys of a rabbit you can get that move or the wind moves them. Combined with a call can make the difference.

Use a rabbit call for varmints. They work. 223 is the way to go, however getting them close enough for you to hit them will be difficult without a call.

Don't shoot an ear off or you only get 1/2 price for the yote!

We need a bounty 'round here, but it'll never happen. I had one shoulder mounted when I killed one on my land during deer season. I put it in my store for a while next to a deer head. now they are a dime a dozen, but stll looks cool.
