starting today, THR is blocked at work.....

now go figure this...

Cast Boolits, The Firing Line, Atlantic Firearms, Sig USA and many others are not blocked....

just the 'evil' High Road....as it is "weapons related"

Turns out when they extended the fiber line out into new areas of the factory this summer, they opened up a can of worms with guys surfin porn on the back shifts.

Typical American response, punish everyone for the actions of a few.... and let the few get off scott free.

Remote desktopping isn't really that easy, and is impossible if your home PC is running off of XP HOME, though the other versions of XP work. But ,it still isn't easy. You must know how to set it up, and you must know your external IP address, which is hard with a dynamic IP. No-IP DUC automatically updates the IP address AND turns it into a normal URL, but it's hard ot get it to work through a router, but not impossible. There are instructions on their website.

Now, an EASY solution would be, and memorize this.

https://www.kproxy.com/

DO NOT FORGET THE S.

If that doesn't work, sure, try and get a remote desktop set up if you can. I just use Kproxy.

I'm just back from a week in Shanghai, even the Chinese don't block THR. That's tough when your office is tighter than China on internet. But, it's there connection so they can do what they want.

Its good to be the firewall guy! :) THR isn't, nor will it ever be, blocked at my office. And with a 1Gb connection to a 10Gb internet backbone, its also obscenely fast. :D

I have heard that if you use the ip address you can get around it.

Another solution is the IronKey, supposedly anyway.

They probably caught noticed your traffic to THR and, as it probably isn't something you're supposed to be on during the day, they blocked it.

I'm the IT guy at my company and I block websites all the time if I notice a lot of traffic to them and it's not something a specific employee is supposed to be on.

ishida-

Any IT guy worth his weight is going to block proxy sites. Remote Desktop isn't impossible on XP Home. Just use something like RealVNC. I'm a Remote Desktop user myself. I use DynDNS so I don't have to remember IPs. :D
