I stored my ammo in a closet.

I am concern in the summer months, when the house heat up, the ammo might become unstable and fires off.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I know that ammo usually only fires off when the primer gets activated.

Can you share with me a safe way to store ammo?

Also, a while back, I bought ammo from the brand called Wolf. Range Owners usually will not let Wolf brand be fired in their range. Why? Is it safe to have in the house? Recently, I switch over to Winchester for my ammo.

Thank You

About the only way that ammo in the closet is going to go off is if your house catches on fire. The other problem with ammo stored in the house is that if the house ever does catch on fire and the fire department goes to put it out and hear ammo cooking off they have been known to pull back and let the house burn.

If ammunition ever catches fire in your closet (regardless of the time of year), you will have profoundly different concerns at that point.

I don't think you will have anything to worry about, assuming: A) your closet doesn't contain an open-flame heat source; and B) your house doesn't catch fire and engulf the closet.

Uh, how hot does your house get?

Only to those living on the first rock from the sun. The third rock rarely gets hot enough in the summer to cause this.

It's all about the steel. Some of them don't like the steel in the bullets, saying it riccochets, tears up things down range, etc. Some just don't like having to seperate the steel cases from the brass left on the floor that they are going to resell.

Depends on the size of the magnetron you keep in your house, but probably.

Myth Busters tested how hot ammo would have to get to go off It was something like 500 degrees. I think it would be safe in your closet.
