I am perfectly aware of that. It just seems that "vision" wasn't really considered when putting a 5.56 through a 5 or 6 inch barrel. I do really like the telescoping aspect. Though by the time you put a long enough barrel on it to make the 5.56 round more useful than say, a 9mm you lose the compactness that seems to be the whole principle of the design.

To our new THR members from Czech Republic and Poland, I say "welcome".

(Yes, I know I am making a slight assumption about where lalalik is posting from, but the clues are there.)

Now, I hope you realize that it is your job to keep us up-to-date on the newest designs in your countries, and those nearby. :p Actually, you are off to a good start. And don't be shy just because your English isn't perfect. I've met and read so many of my countrymen (USA) who are not all that close to perfect, and give people from other countries lots of slack on this. Getting the message across is the important thing, and having fun doing it comes in a close second.

Is anything known about the operating system?

I assume that it's gas-piston operated, rotating bolt, but that's just an assumption.

I'm also curious about the magazine shown in the well. Given the position of the magazine release, it might not be a STANAG magazine.

Uh, is that barrel telescoping out?

Also, what's the point of having such a short barrel with the 5.56?

On the new Czech rifle, why not use a STANAG magazine if you are going with 5.56 and NATO membership?

On the new Skorpion EVO, it is an innovative design; but it does seem like the short barrel is going to add a lot of blast and noise while limiting the effectiveness. The same design chambered in something like KAC's proprietary 6x35 cartridge would be interesting though.

I don't think it is made by Ceska Zbrojovka-Uhersky Brod, but one of the "other" CZs.

Remov, where do you put the support hand when the stock is folded on that 5.56mm PDW design? Looks uncomfortable, and the two-part butt on the stock looks a tad over-complicated to me.

I have to say I like the look of the CZ-S805. Of course I'm a fan of Czech firearms and have several. The concept work on that Scorpion EVO looks interesting although it would likely be a monster to control on full auto. It's good to hear from firearm enthusiasts from other parts of the globe. Welcome to THR!

P.S. Remov: I like your web site...now if I could just read Polish!

Anyone else have the odd feeling we have been invaded by employees of various european firearm manufacturers?

If we have been, I'd count us lucky :)

the real question is: Will they import a semiautomatic version fo any of these for the US market to buy/play with/evaluate?

because until someone gets hands-on with these weapons, we can't say much about them with credibility.

Nope, the CZ S805 system is designed only to intermediate rounds A version - 5,56 mm x 45 NATO, B version - 7,62 mm x 39 M43 and planned C version - 6,8 mm x 43 SPC. The CZ S805A will have only three versions - Carbine, Standard, LMG/Sniper. The CZ S805B I've seen only in Standard configuration. Several protype rifles are just being tested by Czech Army.

well, it it´s true, so some plans have been changed, the chief of ČZUB has talked about four versions and changeable barrel in the interview for Policista magazine No.3 in 2006.

Nope, there is Sweden Aimpoint and Canadian SpecterDR on the pictures

ok, but what I know, Meopta Přerov is working on new optics for the 21st Century Soldier project

anyway, thanx for welcome, but I´m not a firearms specialist, just I know some things and was angry to see the first link in google about CZ S805 presented in "heavily based on the G36 and FN SCAR" way. :)

And more about news from ČZUB, maybe nothing new for you, ČZ 75 Phantom with polymer frame is in production since short time ago.

If I am allowed as a very new member...
I worked at the above mentioned show Future Soldier in Prague as a deputy armorer of the show, basically checking all exhibits from the safety POV, including the CZ stand. I also had a quite lengthy conversation about this rifle with the head of the exhibition and handled the rifle.

The CZ designers, as they said "watch FN SCAR" very closely as their main competition. The internal mechanism resembles a G36, short-stroke piston and rotating bolt (nothing new even for the G36). The BC group slides in a plastic body.

The rifle was presented with a "G36 mag well" module, but the modules are very easily exchangeable, currently there are NATO/M16 modules, G36 modules and others are designed, including AK and something for 7.62 NATO and 6.8 REM. The idea behind it is that Czech Army, operating in NATO Mission around the world, can use a module allowing the soldiers to use magazines of the same type as their allies in place, i.e. G36 when operating along Germans, NATO/M16 mags when operating with US forces etc. I proposed a mag-well module allowing the use of Vz. 58 magazines to allow use of the stock of mags and ammo for training, the gentlemen said nothing but exchanged some looks...

The optics attached to the exhibit was a mock-up for presentation only! It is not an actual optic.

The conversion of the rifle in terms of calibers, barrel exchange or conversion from carbine to sniper etc. can and is intended to be done by the OPERATOR, not an armorer, with basic tools in a short time.

The entire rifle is designed with max utilization of plastic. Overall I must say the rifle is nice to handle. I had a chance to play, I mean inspect, of course, the full length rifle, carbine and ultra-short variant, plus the new incarnation of Scorpion SMG in 9 Luger.

So, now I want it in semi-auto!

well, my English is very bad, so I guess that you didn´t understand, "it´s bull**** as ČZ vz.58 is copy of Kalashnikov" means vz.58 is completely original rifle NOT any AK copy, be sure that I know it. There is reason for my sign here and my reply - stupid considering further Czech rifle to be just like another copy of something, just like in case of Vz.58. So what are talking about?

I understood what you said the first time. Your English is fine. Way better than my Czech!

Wow, almost exactly a year since I posted in this thread!

I have to echo the above poster, if it's CZ, it's gotta be good.
