Last night on 11pm KNBC tv news they said:

"Have you wondered what Barry Bonds is doing now that he's not playing baseball?

The former Giants slugger is now a rifle spokesman and appears in an online ad for Christensen Arms. The video shows Bonds hunting down a deer north of Alberta, Canada.

Maybe it's me, but it doesn't seem like the best idea to show off your hunting exploits online. Barry Bonds, from baseball star to deer hunter; oh, how the mighty have fallen."

Suggest you visit the page and leave comments.

Yeah, it's just you.

Quick, somebody send him a link to the hunting forum and watch his little head go "pop!"

My comments

I am very curious what it is that the author normally does for a living, because no legitimate, competent sportswriter would ever make such an absurd statement. Hunting and shooting sports are wildly popular and are a huge industry in this nation. How is an athlete (or any other celebrity) endorsing a rifle or a hunting outfitter any different from a public figure advertising for any other commodity (footwear, clothing, cars, beer, cologne, etc.). Your comments are just absurd. Perhaps Mr. Leveton is actually disturbed by the sight of a successful African-American businessman who making a living doing something other than obediently answering to a white coaching staff. Maybe he is bothered by the sight of an armed African-American. Maybe he is just an inept journalist.

Wow! What an oblivious to reality fool. I wonder if he has ever heard of Ted Williams. I did ask him to check into what Kent Hrbek the former outstanding first baseman for the Minnesota Twins is doing these days.....

A lot of pro athletes hunt or, at least, shoot. Money is really no object for them in shooting sports. So, they can have the best equipment, instructors, etc. I hope the reporter is demoted or something.

I can't see Bonds hunting, where is he going to get a hat to fit that big roided out head of his.

I wonder if the author will have the cajones to respond to some of the comments he's getting.

Maybe I don't know enough about Barry Bonds, but I don't know enough to hate on him like the media does.... Maybe it's because he hates the media... if so, sure makes me like him more.

The fact that he is a hunter makes me think higher of him too.

You would think with all the steroids he's taken over the years that instead of using a rifle, he'd just run down the deer and rip it to shreads.

The shooting industry has a real problem with writers and spokesman who measure up. We're not as shallow as most of the drooling hunchbacks who live unfullfilled fantasies out watching professional sports.

Funny how people still admire those who cheat their way to the top..........
