You gotta love a kid's sense of humor

Sorry - but seen people have to patch walls because one got away unexpectedly. At home, no big deal, slipped up a little - and BAM.

Kinda changes your outlook on things. If that means i've got liberal gun safety shoved up my rear end - then, so be it. Thank god that to date, i have not been one of those people going to home depot for some spackle (or worse) because i did something stupid.

i wasn't referring to you, or anyone in particular. we don't know alot of details of the situation and the story never says that the gun was used in an unsafe way. it's just no reason to get bent out of shape, especially over the internet

I have to agree with Sinixstar. Guns are not toys, and not intended to play hide-and-seek with as a game. I see absolutely no humor in that.

To the OP, I congrat you in your raising of your daughter, she is wise beyond her years.

Thank you expvideo that is correct but I didnt expect people to dissect my story and find negativity in it.

I wont speak my mind anymore about this subject.

you posted something on THIS forum and didn't expect a bunch of internet know-it-all/moral highgrounders to find negativity in it?

it never fails with this forum. highroad my @$$

natural marksman, who said my daughter had easy access to my gun ??? NOONE did. My wife has access to it. The gun was never left without an adult next to it

Personally im really starting to laugh about this thread. Over 50 responses and almost NON relevant actually.

BUT thank you to all the positive responses to noticing how well I have taught my daughter and how well the training classes I send her to have taught her.

I am very proud of my daughter and I think I have taught her well and I am glad she respects firearms and is not afraid of them.

NOW this should stir some responses too, I am 100% confident that I can leave a hang gun in her presents and she is smart enough to know not to touch it. NOW im not saying I have ever done that or would do that, BUT I know if it happens I have nothing to worry about.

I raised my kids to know right from wrong and to not take life so serious.

By the way, this isnt the first time we have played a prank with a loaded and holstered weapon and I see from some of the responses im not alone.

LOL I actually didnt know we had so many Know-it-alls here.

For context, please remember that half the posters are only claiming to be > 15 years of age. It's like Yugioh said at the end of season 3...

sinixstar replys:

"Careful - mentioning that somehow makes you an undesirable around these parts."

Sinixstar, how so, please explain?

I believe he's referring to Yu-Gi-Oh, a weekday afternoon/saturday morning cartoon, based on a collectible Trading Card game. Or is it the other way around?

The original Yu-Gi-Oh I actually enjoyed, the two spinoff's not so much.

And yes, I am older than 15.

By the way, this isnt the first time we have played a prank with a loaded and holstered weapon and I see from some of the responses im not alone.

To each his own. In my opinion, its completely irresponsible. You wouldn't play with it unholstered, so why with it holstered? You might think its safe, but where does it stop? And while your daughter has shown to be safe, she is only 8 years old. I believe it sets a bad precedent.

But again, to each his own.

Pretty simple - i mentioned this wasn't the smartest or safest thing to do - and i got jumped on for being a jerk (which is rather undesirable).

In that context, if one were to follow in my footsteps - and make a similar observation, logic would indicate that such a person should be prepared to face a similar reaction.

Sorry.....

Cute story, but I guess I side with the un-popular minority.......if you want to play pranks then hide the car keys...... tell your wife it's not the dress that makes her look fat, it's just her being fat that makes her look fat....... (this is a good one)..crumble up some Saltine crackers and put them on your partner's side of the bed just before bedtime.....do WHATEVER floats your boat, but never, ever, never, never play a prank or joke with a gun loaded OR unloaded.

Ok...start bashing......I'm ready!!!

We have done it and we will do it again im sure.

Guess what I speed too, infact ive pulled my 27 foot travel trailer at 85 mph before. Ive shot my son in the leg at point blank range with a air soft pistol just to see if it would hurt. AND worst of all, ive ran stop signs ON PURPOSE.

And to top it all can you believe im a 35 year Boy Scout and im an Eagle scout on top of it so I should know better HUH ??????

:what:

You'll grow up.

I hope.

<JUST KIDDING>

Seriously, bright daughter there. Does she take after her mom?

I keep telling my wife, who happens to be 11 years younger than me, that I will never have a mid-life crisis because you have to grow up to do that.

I can't joke too much with my wife. I'm 52 and she's a couple years OLDER!

I try to get her to shoot and hunt with me, but she will have nothing to do with it.
So one of the LAST THINGS I would EVER do is play around in any way, shape or form with any guns at all.
PERIOD.

In our house, the guns are serious business at all times.

She knows how the guns work, and if she really needed to use one, I've shown her what she would need to do.
