Several years ago the bug had bitten me for new guns. I am thinking what to do since I have no funds for new toys, I says to myself, sell your gun that you have now and with that cash buy some more (my gun at that time was my FIRST and only handgun-- a 6in nickel Python). Despite what my wife said and much to her protests and a tongue lashing from my brother when he found out what I did, it was sold, and two new guns were purchased with the cash and found a home with me. Time passes and with it wisdom is gained and the stupidity of what I did (not only selling my FIRST handgun but it was a Python to boot) became apparent to my very thick skull.

Fast forward 10 yrs--- A new shooting partner in the form of a neighbor kid from down the road… young enough to be my son comes into my life, in fact he grew up with my boys and was like a part of the family. YOU HAD A 6 INCH NICKLE PYTHON AND YOU SOLD IT, he says to me one day, when we were at gun show where I was drooling over a used blued one. Yup --- I sold it to a guy I used work with, in fact you probably know him as you work at the same place I did then.

I]Fast forward 1yr [/I]--- My son buys a 8 in blue python and the memories come back of the Python that was sold years ago. Man that trigger is smooooootth ….Right now I am starting a fund to buy “my python” back, even though it most likely is never going to happen because the current owner will never part with it.

Christmas night--- We are all gathered including the “kid” from down the road, all the present are opened except one …. handed to me at the very end. What is this I ask???? As the cameras start coming out, open and see they say… a note telling me to look in my sock drawer, what stupidity is this I think? One note leads to another note which leads to more which sends me all over Gods green acre… etc, etc. Finally after 19 notes and many trips back and forth and up & down, a present has appeared in the middle of the floor.

At last the end of this rubbish, let’s see what the fuss is all about.

The box is opened………………………………. It’s a stupid bird clock from past Christmas’s ……….I absolutely hate that thing …… much laughter is expelled at my looks of frustration…. and thoughts of smashing this clock with the first thing I can get my hands on are going through my head along with ,45 minutes of wasted time for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shouts of “look in the bottom” “are you sure that’s all there is” are heard…………………..Under the shredded paper that the clock sits on is something shinny!!!!!! A 6in nickel PYTHON is pulled from the depths of the box…….words can’t describe the feelings that are running around in my mind! Upon closer inspection a scratch is visible on the left side under the cylinder. The past owner must have slipped with his screw driver when he tried to disassemble it for cleaning …..wait... that’s my scratch…..this is my PYTHON… I sold years ago.

The “kid” from down the road finally convinced the owner to sell it to him so they could give it back to me. I am not ashamed to say the tears are now running freely.

How lucky am I to be blessed with children like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell the kids "Nice job".
For those of us into guns, this is one of the better kinds of Christmas presents.

(AND, you never should have sold it in the first place!!!)

Well, I think the only proper thing to do is take the kids out to the range all expenses paid and let them send many rounds down range with your once again found joy, after you send a few down first.

Looks pretty slick!

That's amazing! I'm guessing it feels pretty good for the python to be home again :D

WOW talk about Colt Pythons.

Here is a pic of the Christmas present my dad gave me. It was my dad’s and I’ve been asking for it for 10 years. My wife and my son finally talked my dad into giving it to me.

Colt Python .357 Magnum with 6 inch vented barrel in mint condition.

Manufacture date 1968

That piece of paper next to the gun is the original FFL transfer paper from Aug 2, 1970 with a price of $150.00 for the gun.

The gun only has about 100 rounds thru it.

I admit I cried too.
