A friend of mine told me all about these cheap police german sig sauers that were popping up in gun magazines everywhere.

Now, I really want to buy a 9mm only for the sake of having one, but I don't know if these things are worth the money.

Have you guys heard of these, and are they still around?

Has anyone bought one?

Worth it?

Your friend was probably referring to a SIG P6, a retired German LE model of the 225 single-stack 9mm pistol. They were a good gun for the the money, but the supply seems to be drying up a bit.

I bought one in great condition and am very happy with it, as are many others. Trigger pull is heavy on these units to prevent unwanted discharge, capacity is 8 + 1, and magazines are difficult to find. Otherwise, far and away the best deal in service type handguns for the $300 or so they were getting.

P6 is a great deal at the price, but the magazine and grip pannels are hard to find and very expensive. If you buy one, make sure you get 2 mags.

The P6 (P225 in German police form) is probably the best buy in semi-autos right now.

Changing the hammer spring is not hard.

I just purchased a P6 from peach state guns and it is in great condition. I have not had a chance as of yet to get it to the range but from all reports I have heard they are as good as anything else you will find and a great buy for the money. If you are maybe not hard set on the P6 there are some other great buys in Sigs in the CPO's. I also have a 229 in .40 and it is a very good weapon and, you can get those for around five to six hundred and most of them you can hardly tell they have been used except for the smilies on the barell. Check gunbroker, auction arms and guns america and you can probably find lots of them and did I mention the CPO's also have a year factory warranty.

Changing the hammer spring is not hard.

I picked up one of the P6s and it is a very accurate gun. The DA pull is LONG and HEAVY.

Will changing out the hammer spring improve, lighten, or (better yet) shorten the pull? How and where? Please and thanks!

It wil lighten the pull, but will not change its length.

I get my Sig parts at TopGunSupply; IIRC, one of the principals is a member here.

Very nice gun for $300 and SA trigger is good but DA trigger will give you arthritis. Mags are $40-$50 at the gunshow and don't buy pro-mag for this gun.
