Gift Cards

Hi there, I work in the Communications department at UFA and have been authorized to say the following:

We appreciate the fact that you purchased Sportsman's Warehouse gift cards from the owners of the original company. UFA has purchased 15 of their locations, but does not have any affiliation with Sportsman's Warehouse.

At this time, we are not able to redeem Sportsman's Warehouse gift cards at the 15 locations UFA purchased yesterday.
As you can appreciate, Sportsman's Warehouse is facing challenging times and is closing 23 stores; UFA bought 15 locations, though if we had not, some of those stores may have closed as well.
UFA has a long tradition of serving customers and members and we will work very hard to deliver excellence for the customers of our newly acquired outdoor adventure stores in the US Northwest.

Please note that Sportsman's Warehouse gift cards can still be redeemed at stores owned by the original company and online. Please go to www.sportsmanswarehouse.com for those locations.

----

If you have any more questions, please post them and I'll try my best to reply.

Thanks,

Mark

I've spent about $2000 on reloading components since the first of the year....it would have gone to Sportsmans Warehouse had they had inventory, instead it went to their competitors. In the post election buying frenzy they could have cleaned up with reloading components and EBR's.

.....like a grocery store with no food on the shelves, customers in line with cash to spend....sad.

Mark (UFA), are the stores UFA purchased going to be operated under the Sportsman Warehouse name? I sounds like they won't be. What will the new name be?

Yup, just read in our local paper that the two in Wisconsin are closing in 60 days. Now we'll just have Gander's here in Milwaukee, althougth 45 min. away we have Midwest Shooters Supply with great prices on reloading supplies.

Here in Missoula the only other large sporting goods store is Bob Wards. We're screwed if they go under, there is not an employee in there that knows a fishing rod from a ski from a firearm.

Now, ours will be reopening under another name so there may be some hope...

Phoenix has 2 of them(at least on my side of town). One just closed a couple months ago, the other one I stopped in the other day and was the only customer in the store.

All three Sportsman's Warehouse stores in Minnesota are closing. One guy said it'll be six weeks or until everything is sold, whichever comes first.

Talking to a couple counter guys one said that some stores have been bought out by the Canadian company and the fifteen closest to Canada will be kept open.

Naturally I asked, "Minnesota doesn't count as close to Canada?"

"Not close enough..."

Go figure.

Something else I found interesting/ironic, the closest SW to me has a big banner on the front, "Store Closing," while the Staples right next door, about 25 yards away, has a big banner on the front, "Now Open." I should've taken a picture, wonder how long that will last...

The purchase by the Canadian company fell through according to the Minneapolis paper, which is why the Minnesota ones are among those closing.

What a shame. The store here blew away all the competition for a year or two after it first opened. I spent a ton of money there. Then after the buyout and the bare shelves for months on end, I quit going. I was hoping they'd turn it around.

I just went to the De Pere location today. I didn't know this was one of the locations closing until we pulled up, saw the big neon yellowish banner, and a parking lot more full than I've personally ever seen it. I didn't want much, and they didn't have anything I wanted. Handgun board was slim, almost no handgun ammo to speak of. Low on reloading supplies. Etc. They've been bare on a lot of that for the last month or two anyway, though. Still, they were neat to stop in when I went up that way.

ilmonster, i was in Midwestern today to pick up my RIA 1911, and reloading supplies were a bit on the bare side. Good prices, but not much I could see, cept for shotshell. These days though, if I've commited to driving that far already I'm also going to go the 20min further to Cabelas. Lately they've had what I wanted more than anywhere else. It's just long enough a drive though that I feel compelled to spend more than I'd planned just to make it worthwhile.

This is sad news, I've shopped the Roanoke VA store about 4 times. I preferred it over BPS. They did not try to be a tourist attraction, just everything that you need at a good price. I guess that the new(year old)Gander Mountain did it in, it's larger than the norm for Gander's, nice store but outrageous prices.

I just found out today that SW is closing both their stores in Memphis. Too bad, as I've shopped there several times, making sometimes substantial purchases.

This leaves the Bass Pro shop in town with no competition--and I can't stand to shop there for gun-related items.

22-rimfire:

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, I was away from the office on Friday.

The stores will continue to operate as Sportsman's Warehouse in the immediate future. Once I have more information, I'll be sure to post again.

I think most of us here really don’t care what sign is over the doorway as much we’d like to know when the shelves are going to be restocked. Do you have a timeline for when we should go back to the store to buy? I went this weekend and the shelves were (again) empty. Since the Sportsman’s isn’t just around the corner I really don’t want to waste my time going there again just to see tumbleweeds blowing around the ammo shelves.

Getting products on shelves

Mainsail:

Right now we're working to transfer all the vendor contacts from Sportsman's.Obviously, it's in our best interests to get product out there as soon as possible and we're working to do that. At present, it's probably best to call ahead to the stores to see if the products you need are in stock.

As I get more information, I'll post it.

I stopped by the one in Sioux Falls, SD that is closing and it was a zoo. Parking lot was full. A lot of people looking for deals which weren't really there. 10% off seemed to be the norm, although hunting clothing was up to 30%. Still not as good as their prices at xmas. No discounts on firearms.

There is a Scheels in town which has OK prices and a local gun shop that is fairly proud of their inventory and doesn't like to let it go (ie high prices), so I am kind of bummed SW is closing. Definitely was my favorite sporting goods store in the area.

This sucks, I just found out about the closings today. I went by my local store that I was at just 2 weeks ago with no hint of closing. I just went by to buy some powder. Their supply had gotten better in the last couple of months. Anyway it is all gone now. I bought a few items but most of what I needed was long gone and they wern't taking any of their little gift certificates I had to buy some stupid dvd to get. They were the best source of reloading supplies in the Austin area. Now McBrides is the best source with Cabelas coming in a distant second. That is pretty bad, I guess I will buy all my reloading stuff via the internet now. I am just sorry that Canadian company didn't think it was worth it to invest in the stores that weren't close to Canada.
