An email I just received from DMPS about a AR 15 kit I wanted to buy.

Our current lead time on standard guns is 1 year, and 2 years on guns with upgrades. We are 147,000 rifles behind. The Sportical is an as is rifle, and cannot be upgraded.

If there are any further concerns please feel free to contact me.

Respectfully,

man i didnt know it was that bad. Im glad I got me a few Ar's . I know someone who has dpms lower parts kits if that helps. he also has a few stripped lowers. PM me if you want his number, FFL will ship to you

Lester,

Were you able to place an order with DPMS because you are an FFL? I was kinda curious how this worked (can I go to my local FFL and ask him to put in an order through DPMS online or over the phone?)

Blonde

Blondie Im close to an FFL and yes if you order anything from DPMS that includes a barrel, you will receive that email that lester got. and thats not just for upgrades, thats all orders that include a barrel. they just word it a little different for your basic spotical. but he still seems to get one about every 2 weeks.

blondie, you can do either or. but its not gunna shake the wait time to any less. you should check smaller local gun shops that maybe didnt sell all their ar's or whatever. when i got mine, the place must have just got the shipment or somethin. they had all the same model on the floor( olympic arms k3b flattops). they had like 7 of them out and who knows how many they had in the back. but i got one from the back that had never been touched, wich i was happy with. picked it up a little over a month ago and paid 1099.00, wich is high but its only gunna get higher. so just check around. youll find somethin.:D

Remember too that the backlog includes the rifles shops ordered months ago. So keep checking the local shops to see what shows. Here in MN a few weeks ago bull barrelled models were showing up, and a week ago dealers suddenly had a few classics around. It appears that DPMS is putting them out in batches, so you might get lucky if you keep checking.

Blondie,

No I do not have an FFL, did years ago but not now.

I had a local FFL shop owner ready to place the order for me for $30.00, but I am not going to wait that long.
