once in the Phillipines, on a bet, after alcohol, i tried to ride one about that size. strongest bull, i had ever seen. over the front and trampled before i could tell my mugger to release him.
bullet performance with the punch bullets was great. Fist one blew through both shoulders. The wife took a scope to the eye and was bleading and handed me the gun. I put anohter one into the chest head on and that one was recovered under the hide in the hind quarter so it gave complete stem to stern penetation but the buffalo was tough. It went down and got back up and started running. that was all of the punch bullets i had left and the rest were 420 lfngc cast bullets cast out of linotype. All loads were about 1600 fps. Two cast bullets went into the lungs broadside and were recovered under the hide on the far side. Noses of both showed signs of mushrooming. I would have hoped that they would have easily blew threw on that angle but that buff was tough and had hide about 3 times as thick as a bison. Those two shots put it down but it was still trying to get up and i tried to finish it with a 44 mag using 320 cast and it took three shots to the brain to finaly kill it. Toughest dieing animal i ever saw. Always thought my dream hunt was to take my 500 linebaugh to africa with cast bullets on bufflalo but after this experience i doubt if id want to trust a cast bullet on something that big and tough. If i did it my gun would be loaded with punch bullets.
After Lloyd gave you a black eye with the telescopic sight instructions and then put you under that enormous beast held up by a mere 1/2" chain.....I encourage you to get him to pay for a Weekend at the Spa of your choice. I suggest you put all the trimmings on Lloyd's Tab including a few cocktails to reduce the swelling around the eye. He's a lucky man to have a girl like you.
she is a pretty good sport. She likes to kill things but when the gutting starts she runs! I grilled some of the tenderloins yesterday and they were as good as bison or beef. thats not much of a testament as just about any tenderloin is good but it sure didnt have any strange flavor. Id say it was closer in taste to beef then bison.
