I finally got the guts to paint my rifle, and although it isn't bad, it could be better. I like to look at rifles more than I do women, must have some wiring crossed or something, could I get you guys to post some of your painted rifles?

Dont be so hard on yourself, that looks really well done. I'm extremely impressed.

Yes..very good indeed. I like the the way you combines what looks like fuzzy bits of color with the digital splotches or whatever. Very professional and aesthetically pleasing if you ask me. I think that much can be done with digital camo that is just downright attractive as well as functional.

Yeah definately looks great!!! So share your process! haha In detail from start to finsih. I've been thinkin about atempting the same just not sure how to "properly" do it.

I think it looks real SHARP. ?? you guys dont use spray paint from a can do you? or do you? i would love to do this to my REM. 597.

I made a stencil for some shapes and used masking tape for other shapes around like the barrel and scope. Khaki was the base and brown and olive drab(sparingly). then went over the whole rifle with olive drab and brown but just to get a shading effect to soften up the digi-pattern. My main reason for painting was to make the barrel a lighter color to reduce heat from the sun. I actually thought about dragging it through the yard to scuff it up, I like painted rifles that have scuffs, its kinda sexy.

What kind of paint did you use?

Where did you buy it?

Looks great...have an old 22 mag that needs a similar treatment.

if ur stock is synthetic i would use krylon spray paint you can find it almost anywhere it bonds very well with plastic, may need to scuff up the stock a lil bit so it can adhere better but it should come out nice if you put the effort in

Hope this doesn't ruin anyone's day . . . my Saiga.
When I got done with it, I realized that it reminds me of a pin-ball machine.

Thanks heron, now I know exactly what NOT to do with mine :0
But yeah... what kind of paint did you use, I may what to change the colors in the future...

Here's a plinker, a Remington 597 that I picked up for $25 because the magazine catch was not functioning. It was easily repaired, but I didn't like the grey stock, so I painted it with Rust-O-Leum textured paint - Desert Bisque was the color. Added scope and bipod and you have:

It will shoot pretty good, too, the target below is at 25 yards with Wolf MT ammo:
