This match is for SKS'es and AK variants chambered only for the communist bloc rounds 5.45x39 or 7.62x39 or even 7.62x54r for the PSL guy's

The SKS and AK matches will be scored separately except for an overall winner

The two SKS divisions are for Handloaded ammo and Factory loadings

The two AK classes are iron sights and the other optical/electronic sights

The Rules

You will fire 10 shots onto the approved target set at a range of 50yds, the only shooting position allowed will be standing offhand. Groups will be scored by a smallest size wins for all 10 shots

The target used will be a "paper" plate, you can paint, color or put any dots you wish inside this target but the "group" shot must be on this plate. For those of you who's range rule prohibit the use of a plate see this post

you will shoot 10 shots onto the plates adhering to the rules outlined above. When you have a target you're satisfied with you need to make note on the target the following information

username
group size
firearm & sighting system
ammunition
date

then take a pic of it and post it here, if you would post a pic of the rifle used as well.

You may submit as many targets as you wish provided one of three things
1. the new group betters the last (leave the old pic up though)
2. the new group is for a different class
3. It was shot with another firearm

The cutoff date for submissions is July 4th

Please please submit targets even if you don't think they'll win as the information on how well what shoots may be valuable to other members

Come on, this is stickied allready and the rimfire match ain't? :(

Jk, i hope you have a great turn out krocus, if i can steal my friends SKS, i will try...

Awesome! Thanks Krochus.June is good, this month I just bought a house so getting squared away so not much shooting happening for me in May.:D

I'll planning on shooting this one (Chinese SKS) but have some comments before I do.

Please please submit targets even if you don't think they'll win as the information on how well what shoots may be valuable to other members

Just going to throw this out there in response to the above. There are a ton of AKs out there that are neglected from this match because they're chambered in 5.56/.223. Lot's of Saigas, SARs and maybe even some Polytechs. Not to mention the Bulgarian models from Arsenal and Galil clones. They're Kalashnikov actions but are neglected because they aren't Combloc calibers.

I think it would be a great idea to include the 5.56 AKs because it will only widen our statistical pool and help give a better understanding of the platform in all it's widely available forms.

Or not, it's not my match to run. :D

I've got access to a .223 Saiga and will shoot with it too, for informational purposes.

I have just completed the conversion of my Saiga 12...and will shoot with it for informational purposes. :D Now when you say 10 shots...is that 10 pellets or 10 shells? :neener:

Could I get an extension on the time frame?

Currently I'm in Iraq but I'll be back in the States on the afternoon of June 26th and I'd like to do this with my Norinco.

Thanks.

First and foremost let me say thanks for your service

If folks participate I'll have a July match and may expand it to include more rifles and or calibers.

just got back from taking my wasr-2 in to get it mounted with a permanent side rail scope mount. the thing seems to be a way above average shooter from what i can tell it is capable of more accuracy than i am, this should be fun.

RULE CHANGES

1 After much deliberation I've decided to allow any cartridge to take part in this match provided the platform it's fired from qualifies.

2 I'm gonna provide for a 50yd rested class, All the rules above apply except there will now be a 50yd benchrested category. Please make note of what shooting position the submitted target was shot in.

Are these new rules agreeable?

Sweet!

Here's what I plan to shoot:

Saiga .223: Irons/Offhand
Saiga .223: Irons/Bench
Saiga .223: Optics/Offhand
Saiga .223: Optics/Bench

SKS: Irons/Offhand
SKS: Itrons/Bench

Should be fun.

Thanks :)

I'm a former Marine working as a contractor helping the Army with their computer networks, but as a veteran I'll definately accept the thank you.

I should be able to get something posted before the middle of July. I'll be shooting SKS with irons in the offhand and from the resting bench.
