I have firearms because of many reasons, some of which include;

Protection. For myself, my loved ones and my home.

Challenge. Target shooting, shooting clays. Trying to a perfect shot.

Workmanship. Guns are built to exact standards and are quite beautiful.

History. Owning a gun that has military history such as a 1911 .45acp.

i was raised up in the country. my dad brought us up to be comfortable with a rifle.

id feel naked without any.

It's my duty as a citizen; part of the deterrence against tyranny. Also to protect my family. And to kill pesky wabbits!

I was brought up making muzzle loaders, hunting and target shooting, I was taught my first duty was to protect my family and community in desperate times . I should be proficient with any firearm I own and be prepared to use it if the times called for it.

Here are the reasons, in order of importance:

1). In case I have to shoot someone.

2). Because it pisses off all the right people.

3). Because it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them recreationally at other things besides people, like tin cans.

I own guns because I find them interesting.

I carry a gun because the state won't issue me a cop that will fit in my holster.

For eventual dominance of my entire neighborhood and the taking over of all wives, especially the slightly overweight one that always winks at me in the supermarket.:D

I've always had guns around, always enjoyed tinkering, shooting, hunting, collecting. Recently I have been questioning why I have what I have. I don't get the enjoyment out of them I used to, and I don't know why.

I have been around guns all my life. I have always been fascinated with mechanical and shiny things. Not really concerned about protection.
Guns don't break down orout date like electronics and cars. I buy them, put them on display in my Gun Room (even tag them too). Currently I have accumulated over 160 in my life time. Still buying. Really don't evencare to shoot them. I just want them all. It is an addiction compared to my wifes gambling.
It makes me happy.:)

"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property... Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them."
Thomas Paine

^^^What he said^^^

Because they are just so much fun to shoot!!

Self/home protection if necessary.

Keep them long enough and most times they will increase in value. Bought a Winchester model 94 manufactured in 1958 for $75.00. It's now worth MUCH more. Got a Model 1897 manufactured in 1916 and I know it too is worth much more than it cost in 1916.

I hunt, I collect, I target shoot, I carry for self-defense, I carry for work, I appreciate good workmanship and historical value.
