Phantom Warrior,
The knife is a Gerber Mk II. Al Mar designed it. The knife came out in 1966 and was popular with the troops during VN war. Not much usefulness as a field knife, but sure is hell for deadly.--Leigh

1984-vintage Desert Eagle MkI, Dirty Dick Bancroft 01 parkerized carbon steel & red linen micarta "Field & Bloodstream" model, commissioned for my deployment and carried to Desert Shield and Desert Storm (my carry gun as issued was *not* the Desert Eagle, but a M-38, then replaced by a nice old Ithaca M1911 - there weren't enough M9's to go around to all the aircrews back then):

Gewehr98, great lighting on your posted pics. Too many of the others posted don't control the lighting contrast or just let the shadows block up too much. I'll have to find a way to post pics so I can put my money where my mouth is.

To some of the rest of you, try bouncing your light off the ceiling or any large flat (white or silvered, I've wrapped tin foil around a 3-ring binder in a pinch) and, for-the-love-of-pixels, use a tripod.

Penforhire, it's the famous Plonk Technique...

That's where you plonk the gun down on the scanner's flatbed, drape your red Levi's workshirt over the whole mess, and click on the scan icon. I miss that HP ScanJet 6100C, it worked really well for plonks. My new Canon LED scanner has a really poor depth of focus using the same technique. :D

If you look closely at the Desert Eagle/Field & Bloodstream pic, you'll see where I forgot to clean the fingerprints off the scanner's window before I took the image. :p

Walther PP with Nill grips. Knife is a Fairbairn-Sykes 1st pattern repro made by NZ knives (in New Zealand, where else?). This knife was custom made for me, has the standard "The F-S Fighting Knife" logo etched on one side of blade, but instead of the Wilkinson logo on the other, it has my family crest.
